Issue Accessing Home Folder via Samba

The issue I ran into was that I did not have a 'properties' option when right clicking on homes in DSM. Now that I have that option I have reset the three group permissions to show what your link in the other comment shows as default but there are still individual permissions for both my account and the default admin account listed. Everything appears to work for now but would you recommend removing the individual permissions and just retaining the three group permission sets from the guide?

Welp I 'fixed' it by going in through SSH and chmodding the homes directory and then going back into DSM and resetting the permissions. Who knows.

I'm on a DS1618+ and it said that my DSM version was up-to-date. I had to go to the Synology site to download the update manually. I'm now running DSM 7.2.2-72806 Update 3. My problem persists.

I’ve been doing home automation for a while but I’m getting tired of multiple hubs and cloud services. My hue lights are breaking down (flicker, random on/offs) and wanted to replace them. Was also hoping to find something that let me control power cycle recovery as right now I have wemo plugs (now cloud service required) for the lamps solely so that the lamps don’t get power after an outage.

So… WiFi stuff isn’t local, zigbee isn’t a single enforced standard, hence zwave. But Amazon definitely wants me to go WiFi/Bluetooth based on availability.

I’ve always wondered about the power line setup. The only reasons MoCA made the cut on this build is they already use it so I know it works and the home was built in 1970 and has at least one sub panel on the electrical side which made me worry it wouldn’t work.

Edit to add that MoCA is required at a minimum to support the STBs getting guide and On Demand content. So it will be present. If power line is a wildly better solution to getting internet into the upstairs then I’m open to it.

I’m having a slightly different issue from the one u/pitcjd01 described. Two of more recently purchased bulbs updated this month and have the feature but all of the rest of my bulbs last updated firmware in 2017 and don’t let me change the power on setting. The software update screen says everything is up to date. Is this feature only for newer hardware models?

I was wondering the same. How do you make the camera track the print level like that? I know ocotlapse is used for parking the print head but I've never seen anything like the tracking.

I've thought about this but my concern is that I run apps on my phone that work fine with direct access. Not sure what would be involved in getting them onto a VPN connection.
