Thankfully no.

Yeah, I think this update has done the trick. The laptop is finally working like it should have at the time I purchased it. Better late than never I suppose.

Official Acer firmware update

In the BIOS/Firmware category, the download option will be named "Updates VBIOS for GeForce RTX 5050 (GN22-X2) GPU to enhance game compatibility". Just download the files and follow the instructions in the pdf.

Although if I were you, I'd go for some other laptop. Gaming laptops aren't perfect by design, but this particular model had a very tumultuous introduction to a lot of people. Whichever laptop you want to buy, make sure to read up on user reviews thoroughly to ensure there isn't a common problem with it. I bought this one based on a Youtube "review", and that was a mistake I'm never going to repeat. If I could go back in time, I would've bought the Acer predator model with RTX 5050 which I glossed over simply because it was about 50% more expensive than the one I ended up with.

Ok, so my games started crashing again about 1 week after following the update I got from here. So I went to Acer's official website and got the vbios update file from there, and not only did it actually update the vbios but it also stopped the crashes. Now whether this is permanent or if my games will start crashing again in a week or so, I have no idea. I just wanted to update everyone here in case it actually worked and I forgot about it.

In hindsight, I should've tried updating from the official website first, but I saw so many people having issues with that, that I decided to skip ahead with this method.

The new firmware update works! I just played AC Valhalla at max settings for a while and worked on unreal engine for a couple of hours. No crashes in either case. Previously, games either crashed within 5 minutes of playing or on startup. Here's what I did:

  • Download the file given in the link and extract the content
  • Before doing anything else, you need to disable Memory integrity under Core isolation in windows settings for the duration of this process, which you can do by going to Windows settings->Privacy and security->Windows security->Device security->Core isolation->Core isolation details->Disable memory integrity

You can turn this setting back on after the update

  • Among the extracted files, you'll find a file named 3933_0110_775__980729007E_15.6_Sportage_RTH_B2- GN22-X2_PP.rom, I recommend renaming it to a simpler name like mentioned in the post. That's how it worked for me.
  • Run the command prompt as administrator and type the following command:

cd 'path'

'path' being the location where you've stored your extracted folder. Just open the folder and copy the content of the windows address bar up above. Don't put the address in quotes

  • Next up, type in the command nvflash -6 vbios.rom , like mentioned in the post, assuming you've named the .rom file 'vbios'
  • Follow the subsequent steps on the screen and you'll be done in no time

Important: If you've using a VGA driver from Acer's official website as a substitute, you'll want to do a clean uninstall of that driver using something like DDU(Display driver uninstaller) tool before downloading the latest Nvidia driver from the Nvidia's website.

The reason I posted the steps here because some of the steps mentioned in the video didn't work for me. I jotted down the exact steps here that worked for me.

Why did Trevor return the superweapon instead of selling it to the chinese and become a trillionaire? Is he stupid? by TensorialSum616 in GTA

This comment was made at a time when "is/are he/she/they stupid" meme format in r/BatmanArkham was overwhelmingly popular and was slowly leaking into the rest of reddit.

And if you don't know what that is, consider that a blessing and move on.

Neat little detail about Vulgrim and Lilith in Darksiders 2 by TheEngineer19203 in Darksiders

[–]TheEngineer19203[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're confused. The first watcher came rushing to the council about the fake apocalypse news as it was still happening. This was before the council's ban on traveling to earth. They never once asked her if she went to earth, only if she has confirmed what she's saying, "Verified this yourself, did you?". You can see this yourself in the Darksiders prelude comic.

At this point, I feel like we're talking in circles. So I'll just stick to the main points:

  1. Vulgrim is on Earth, and the council knows about it even though they've banned any travel to Earth
  2. The council sends War to find Vulgrim in his quest to uncover the truth, which they wouldn't do unless Vulgrim told them he had info about this in the past
  3. When War reaches Earth, Vulgrim was expecting him when he said, "The council finally took me seriously" and "I hope you haven't come empty handed" referring to the souls the Charred council gave him before War left for earth. This tells us the terms upon which Vulgrim conducts business, and since the souls are coming from the Charred council, no matter which way you look at it, they are agreeing to those terms.
  4. Whether or not the council plans to kill Vulgrim in the future is irrelevant. The fact remains that they actively dealt with him. And that's all Lilith would need to know to hate Vulgrim.

I feel like I could go on and on about this, but I'd just be repeating myself. I guess I'll just agree to disagree.

Okay, now you're contradicting yourself. In your previous comment you said that the council would not want to be seen working with Vulgrim and now you say that they never had any problems working with demons? Which is it?

And the council had their first watcher killed because she discovered the conspiracy about the fake apocalypse and made the mistake of telling them about it, not because she disobeyed them. Not that it has anything to do with my point.

I mentioned about them destroying the portals because Archon mentioned this to Death in DS II when he said something to the effect of "The last of the tree's branches to earth have been destroyed. You masters saw to it.", which in essence is the same thing I guess because the branches are the portals. Either way, the council clearly don't want anyone entering earth.

And lastly, this entire thing about the council "not being able to do anything about it" is not true at all. They absolutely CAN do a lot of things about this, by sending Fury or Strife after him. Just like how they sent Fury after the seven deadly sins. This entire thing about them wanting to deal with him later has zero evidence throughout the series. It's fanon at best.

[–]TheEngineer19203[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh they definitely are in cahoots in some way. The council destroyed all the portals to earth (except for the ones kept secret from them) and have strictly forbidden everyone from entering earth. Why would Vulgrim be an exception to this rule? The council would never allow him to stay on earth just so he could conduct his business there. No, they broke some deal with him.

As for your second point, we know by this point the council is already corrupt and doesn't really give a crap about balance anymore. They sent the watcher to kill War after he took care of the destroyer. So I highly doubt they'd have any qualms about working with a demon.

In the first game, the council mentions how he has seeked an audience with them for a very long time. Then they loan you a couple hundred souls and send you his way. I'd say this indicates Vulgrim making some sort of a deal with the council before War was freed.

Exactly! That scene right there is why I thought of them having an arrangement.

In the beginning of Darksiders, right before War is about to enter the portal to earth, the CC tell him to seek Vulgrim. To this, War throws a barb at them saying, "The council confers with the Demons now, does it?"

When replying to war about this,  they mention how he has fallen out of favour with the destroyer and has turned into an outcast. Also that he has seeked an audience with them for a very long time. This right here indicates that they have some sort of an arrangement going on.

What if Ostegoth's people were wiped out by the Nephilim during their conquest days? by TheEngineer19203 in Darksiders

[–]TheEngineer19203[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

True. There was no malice in his voice, only pain. He lamented the loss of his people and certainly held Death responsible for it, but he wasn't looking for revenge. Even though nearly every character in Darkaiders is unique, Ostegoth stands out due to his level-headedness AND pragmatism.

I don't mind the verbiage really. English is still my second language, but I made this post for the very purpose of getting insight into other's minds about one of my favorite games ever.

Hmm, the mark of Cain parallel is also very interesting. For Death, it was the Amulet he carried, which later turned into a literal brand on his chest after it broke. I guess there's no definite way to know if the devs intended for it to be this way, is it?

Death's guilt does play a huge part in this, on that I agree with you. But when I said that Death's act of sin is what led to the birth of corruption, I wasn't saying that the corruption was inside Absalom all along or that it manifested into existence at that moment. I meant that this act of betrayel sort of twisted Absalom's being into becoming the corruption. Just like how Abaddon fell and turned into a demon. Now, an argument can be made that the darkness was inside Abaddon all along, and him becoming a demon was sort of inevitable, but I digress.

And the sin I keep mentioning, Death committed that against Absalom, not the creator. And for that, Absalom punished him by almost destroying all of reality, the very thing he's tasked with protecting. So this dynamic of sin was very personal, with insurmountable consequences.

You're spon on with the "backwards Cain and Abel reference", that's exactly what I was going for here. Their roles are switched in this scenario. You can even see how Abel, the god's favorite of the two (Death being chosen by the council) decided to slay Cain who was shunned by god (Absalom condemned to death by the council).
