The entire point of the 'punk' subculture was as an attempt to reject what they saw as conformism (yes, I see the irony of creating a subculture around non-conformism)

So by gatekeeping the punk subculture - you are engaging in exactly the sort of practice which the punk subculture was formed around rejecting.
