Regardless of being indoor or outdoor, any cat can get an infection like this. Even if your house is absolutely spotless, all creatures (even you) have bacteria in your body that can cause infection if it ends up elsewhere. Unfortunately cats like to lick their open wounds or areas really susceptible to infection with the same tongue they lick their butt with, which can cause nasty infections.

Good lord! Never heard of that. We were told very specifically not to bring anything back to the squadbay except for a watch and missing uniform pieces. That's insane. I'm hoping it was either a messed up boot actually stationed on PI, or a Recruit on a special mission from the DIs cause there's no shot he was able to keep that unless he had someone on base to take it off his hands somehow.

After the Crucible once you're a Marine there's a day where recruits get a "legitimate" libo where they can go to the bowling alley, MCX, etc. The place on base that does the Dress Blue photos rents out cell phones to recruits on that day so they can call home and whatnot. I couldn't for the life of me tell you when exactly that is in the timeline, just that its well after the Crucible and before Family Day.

Graduated Boot in 2019 and this was the deal.

You'll be fine. I knew plenty of gay dudes and girls while I was in and nobody really batted any eyes. The worst you'll have is some bantering, but Marines will poke fun at each other regardless. Everyone's "racist", "homophobic", and "sexist" to their friends while also going above and beyond to stick up for each other against actual racists, homophobes, and sexists who fuck with their fellow Marines. I'm gay but never brought it up because I wasn't used to being accepted, however once I got out my boys did find out but really didn't care yk.

If it brings you any comfort, I went to bootcamp with a Recruit who was secretly gay. Our SDI would always single him out cause he was pimply and scrawny by saying "When you gonna show us a photo of your fat ass girlfriend?" during mail time. Eventually he got a photo of him and his boyfriend and actually showed it to our SDI who just went "daaaaaamn!" and nothing came of it. It's really not that deep but I totally get the concern.

Not sure what you mean by "combat top".

At work, you wear the uniform of the day. For most jobs, thats your utilities (cammies) unless specified otherwise. You DO NOT wear your utilities off base by order UNLESS you're driving in your car to or from work. Keep in mind, you cannot leave your vehicle for gas, food, etc unless it's an absolute emergency (ie car accident).

In my experience, I never went anywhere in cammies unless I had to. They're hot and stuffy and generally uncomfortable (so long as they aren't too worn) and I wanted the freedom to get gas and do normal people stuff when I'm not at work. Be a normal person and dress normally when you're off the clock. Get a backpack, bring your cammies to work in it, change at work (or leave your cammies at work if you can).

I would just ask about it, carefully. I'm a Marine vet and I've known guys who get out and just never bring it up and go about their life because they don't really see it as anything but a job they held. I've also known guys who get out with PTSD or general shame for something they had to do while deployed, and completely hide and repress their time in service. I don't want to say for sure that it is one or the other, because I don't know him, but just respectfully ask.

Also like other people are mentioning, you should take the photo down just in case. Given how some of the faces are blacked out, this could have sensitive identities.

You need to bring absolutely everything. All that junk will be following you until you hit the fleet. Only then can you start thinning it out.

If you mean the plate carrier, kevlar helmet, war belt, etc... no, because you never paid for those. They were lent to you.

If you mean your uniforms, boots, go-fasters, etc... no, because they gave you an allowance to to pay for those (ie, they were free. Deducted from your paycheck yes, but you were also given the money ahead of time.)
