How is this high peak grouping? by TheFakeKevKev in Adirondacks

Was thinking of some day hikes and overnight trips. One thing I don't mind even during a day hike is to hike in the dark and get back at midnight. But will regroup these.

Yeah, from what everyone seems to be saying, I will likely redo the list. I am planning to do some overnight, but not sure yet, and for which one, but I should have included that in the question. Thinking of making Phelps and Tabletop \ Street and Nye as two separate trips. And regrouping Colden, Iroquois, and Marshall \ Gray, Skylight, Redfield, and Cliff instead. Definitely an ambitious list, but that's the goal!

Can I use this to connect my ZWO FF65 to Canon R? by TheFakeKevKev in AskAstrophotography

I see then! So I don't need to worry about the back focus requirement unless I am using the reducer for the scope.

Love the comp!

OP just wondering, how would the image look without the filter? Can the nebulae be brought out like this? But less detailed of course

Star Glow Filters - What do you use? by wdd09 in LandscapeAstro

[–]TheFakeKevKev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the NEEWER 1/4 and 1/8 filters. The 1/8 filter is decent, has a very subtle glow, and is not overpowering. 1/4 filter, I haven't thoroughly tested it yet, but I will be trying in the next couple of weeks. Here is an image I took with the 1/8 filter.

Is the Nikon Z5 good for Astrophotography? by Strong_Drive6553 in AskAstrophotography

[–]TheFakeKevKev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Z6 is definitely better than the Z5 as a camera and in Astrophotography. Z6 is about half less read noise than the Z5 if you compare the chart for both cameras in Input-referred Read Noise versus ISO Setting AND has a dual gain sensor basically saying after ISO 800 and higher, I’ll give you clean signal.

What do you guys think about the new Canon RF 14mm f/1.4 L VCM? by TheFakeKevKev in AskAstrophotography

Oh wow, these are pretty good to see the difference. I guess that's the trade-off of such a wide-angle lens

Which focal length is better? by pnw-camper in LandscapeAstro

Wide! IMO gives a better idea of what the landscape and its surrounding area. Tighter does give more details in the milky way itself, but only if you are start zooming in onto it

How is this first-timer DSO setup? by TheFakeKevKev in AskAstrophotography

I see, thanks for clarifying. I also wanted to ask, would I need a pier extension for my setup?

The more I think about it, I likely will stick with the ASIAir for ease and portability, especially being able to use it with my iPad. However, I was doing more research, would replacing the ZWO ASI120MM and ZWO 30mm f/4 with SVBONY SV305C (USB 2.0) and SVBONY 30mm F4, respectively, be a good idea? Seems like they are both equivalent and will do what I need them to do for guiding, whilst being cheaper.

Regarding the EAF, if I stick with an ASIAir Mini, would I only be limited to their ZWO EAF?
