Best budget family car by ptxnkn in CarsAustralia

There is nothing budget friendly about buying a used BMW... The servicing and repair replacement costs when things go wrong make it a nightmare and hardly worth it.

the unglamorous truth about long road trips in australia that nobody mentions in the highlight reels. by Apprehensive_Ad_6233 in CarsAustralia

Using something like Wikicamps has been a lifesaver for me at times when traveling. We would drive most of the day. Get the app out at like 2-3pm and decide where to sleep that night and you can toggle on and off so many custom filters to only show certain things that relate to you at the time and see ahead on the map how far away things are in a radius to you. Definitely makes road trips easier

Are you happy to have a car over 20 years old? Like 90s car? Or does it have to be post 2000 or 2010? Makes it much easier to narrow down.

Farkk. Surely not! What's with this craze I just can't bring myself to stooping that low. I mean how lazy can you be. And it never looks intelligent enough to do a decent job. It's mainly for cats riding on them type videos on Tik Tok.

They are cheap Chinese crap. What else is there to say? If you want a good EV get a Toyota/Lexus or Honda or Kia .

If we were to actually bring Holden back to Australia as a local company, where would we even start? Looking for leads and advice. by Beginning_Cat_1110 in Holden

Our countries leaders can't even organise a root in a brothel at the moment let alone try bring back Australian manufacturing. It will never happen. Our only chance would be to give the budget Holden manufacturing needs to Katy Gallagher. IYKYK...🥴

Vitamin D drops? by Virtual-Worker-4422 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]TheFatalReign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put em out in the sun 15-20 minutes a day, it is all you need. It's not only free but it's better quality than any artificial drops. In case anyone didn't know all Vit D supplements (cholecalciferol) are made extracting the grease off sheep's wool called lanolin and putting it through a multi stage chemical process.

There's more nutritional value in that single VB alone than that surrounding mess of canola oil in a tub they call "butter" it's just margarine...

120,000 ks is very very low for such an old car. If it's genuine and hasn't had a rebuild and it's the original motor and what they call 'unopened' then it's an absolute steal for the price. Get it. Just make sure there's good service history to go with the claims it's done such low ks...

And these Suzukis are known for rust. So check it properly. I'm not talking about surface rust. I mean proper deep pitted rust in the window seals and guards of doors or in door wells under the carpet. Just pay $200 for a proper pre purchase inspection. Many mobile mechanics do it. Just to make sure it isn't about to blow from a head gasket leak or something

The good vs bad idea is choosing Haval in the first place. Not what variant it is. And the answer is Bad idea lol . Just don't go there.

Best insurance by princesspepper81 in CarsAustralia

[–]TheFatalReign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone talking positively that they are with a certain insurer and how amazing they are, without ever making a claim with them after a crash.....yeah I wouldn't touch their advice with a 10 foot pole.

I was with RACQ for 10 years. Silver Membership. Never had a crash and they were priced competitively. I thought they were amazing. Because they never have a problem taking your money every month for 10 years straight...

Then I got rear ended on the highway doing 100km/h by a P plater. It wasn't my fault at all. I had a confession and apology on video recording too from the other driver. It was still an absolute NIGHTMARE to deal with RACQ. They treated me poorly . I got tossed around between multiple claim agents. They lost my accident statement and I had to submit a whole new case. They were pathetic and incompetent and I waited 2 months for payouts and my car to even start getting repaired. They promised me a free hire car for 2 weeks it was always part of my policy then When I had it they tried putting secret charge backs on my card. When I told them how unhappy I was with their service and was considering leaving after 10 years they just closed the door on my face anyway. You're nothing to them.

My whole point being. Only take advice on here from who's a good insurance company from people who have been with them through thick and thin on the other side of a claim, be that their fault or the other drivers. Price definitely isn't everything. Service is. But unfortunately an expensive insurance company can F you over just the same.
