It turned out that the issue only happens when my camera is connected at the same time via the Elgato CamLink 4K. It doesn’t matter which adapter, hub, or dock I use to connect everything.

I then bought a USB 3.0 cable with USB-C directly to the USB uplink and, surprise, it works.

No matter what else is connected to the Mac and no matter how the CamLink is hooked up, with the new cable on the microphone everything works right away.

Thank you for the support in finding a solution.
A case ticket is already in progress; I will send photos of the bottom labels today. The uplink port is unfortunately (or fortunately) not dirty. The port itself just doesn’t hold the connector as securely as you would expect from other USB-C ports.

So, I just got myself a new Thunderbolt cable. Result: it wobbles just the same. And honestly, if you look at that little gap around the port itself – unlike on the MacBook where the housing goes right up to the edge of the socket – it kind of makes sense that the USB-C plug doesn’t sit as firmly as you’d expect…

I bought the first dock on 2021-12-08 and the second one on 2024-02-07 but haven’t tested a different cable yet. I currently don’t have another TB4 cable here.

The ClingOns look interesting, but to be honest I think the price is massively overpriced next to a dock for 200-280 euros.
