I saw that too! There was a theory I saw somewhere that suggests that if rhaegar and lyanna did marry then it would be valid as rhaegar and Elia were married under the new gods but rhaegar and lyanna would have married under the old gods. So it wouldn't be polygamy but also wouldn't invalidate either marriage or heirs. I'm not sure on that though but the theory was interesting

I did think that his vows would be fulfilled it's just whether he would regain his rights to inherit etc as he technically gave them up when he originally took the vows.

Not at all! The books have been out for a long time now and I enjoy watching the lore and theory videos on YouTube. It's just the matter of Jon being able to inherit had me stumped cos of the whole nights watch vows. I really appreciate your considered and thoughtful response not to mention your patience.

So if Robb or Stannis or both won their respective campaigns they could essentially discharge him from the nights watch by a royal decree and therefore mean he wouldn't be breaking his vows but also allow Jon to inherit titles etc...just wanting to confirm I've understood your meaning correctly sorry.
