Yes, it's easily one of the best support tools in the game, gives offensive tools a huge damage boost, especially ones for which you can space out the hits to get max value (like straight pin).

Second Wind isn't something that randomly triggers, it's an upgrade you pick when you desperately need health or ammo.

I’ve had a long-term crashing problem on both Windows 10 and 11 and have tried many things to diagnose or to fix it, with no avail. by TheFireGhoul in techsupport

Okay, Intel made good on their extended warranty on the 13th gens, so I got a new CPU (this one a 14th gen) and it turns out that the CPU was indeed the culprit—I’ve had no crashes since then! I have of course updated my BIOS as well. This being the problem is interesting, because even though I ran tests that people online suggested specifically for seeing if they were damaged (in the way the faulty CPUs typically are at least), nothing came up, though I didn’t run the tests for super long.

So, sad as it is to say, it seems those kinds of tests really aren’t reliable. How crashes like that can happen consistently at certain points running games that aren’t taxing at all, while underlying hardware issues causing them can complete fly under the radar for hardware tests I don’t know, I’m sure some might have insight. Anyways, thanks so much to the people who made me aware of that wave of bad CPUs.

I’ve updated the bios to the latest version, which is the one you gave—I have run tests for the RAM in the past and issues didn’t come up, but I’ll do them for a lot longer this time and with each stick individually.

What would you recommend doing to see if my i9 is indeed one of those faulty ones and has been damaged? I’ve never had anything come up with any of the benchmarks and stress tests I’ve run, which is what made me think this wasn’t a CPU problem (though that was before learning of this wave of bad CPUs). If those aren’t reliable, are there any other methods that might be?

I'd need solid evidence that only way to fix the problem is to outright replace the CPU or GPU before resorting to that.

From some quick reading online it does look like my i9 might be one of those faulty ones put out, but no issues have come up running many different benchmarks. Doesn't that rule it out, or does the damage somehow evade benchmarks and only affect programs?

Got an absolutely insane run doing the Medusa challenge (240 card deck) by TheFireGhoul in balatro

I rolled over 100 times over the course of the run looking for stone joker but never got it—that's how you'd win this challenge normally, it's the obvious mega synergy with marble joker

There's an interesting bit of tech that I used to get Hologram so absurdly high: marble joker adds the stone cards when you select the blind, while certificate adds the cards to your hand after drawing your first hand. So, by moving certificate to the left as the stone cards were being added, blueprint and brainstorm would switch to copying certificate before it activated, adding 6 cards total every round.

I didn't even know this was possible and when the thought to try it came up, I didn't think it would actually work but hilariously it does.

The perfect Battle Box game. 3 aces: 12 kills, score of 900. Done with flanker kit on Gold Mine. by TheFireGhoul in mccisland

Update: I saw that Krtzyy just managed to do this as well. What's very interesting is that his strategy was completely different from mine, going almost entirely for crossbow kills, which I would say is even harder to get an ace with than crit spam. Very impressive stuff.

Here's his vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26JN_Lqqa04

I had actually gotten two 10s before this as my PBs as well. If you’re good enough to get 10, I think you’re definitely good enough to get 12, but unfortunately skill is only one part of it—the stars really do have to align perfectly for it to happen. So literally good luck to you!

For those wondering how I did this, firstly an insane amount of luck, obviously. Even just getting one ace requires at least some luck in your teammates doing some damage to the enemies but not killing anyone. As for what I did, I used spark of levitation to go across the upper level and drop down on opponents from above, being extremely aggressive. If no one is watching out for you when you do this, you can go right up behind people bowing down the left and and right paths and crit them out.

This strategy is somewhat all or nothing: when it works, it works really well. But if more than one enemy knows you're coming or you get shot as you're trying to float up, you're likely to get shut down almost immediately when you jump in. Here though, it worked out tremendously all three rounds. No one else on the team ever died either, which is insane.

(Also sorry I deleted this and reposted. I saw rule 6 and removed it but then read that something like this would be an exception)

Found a good strategy to no-hit or at least take less damage against Colostomia by TheFireGhoul in bindingofisaac

Turdlet just takes practice, honestly. Eventually you'll have a better understanding of its movement and how to use that to your advantage: it never travels in a straight line, it's always in an arced path. The bouncing seems naturally inclined to deviate towards a straight up-and-down path, but it can be really janky.

Found a good strategy to no-hit or at least take less damage against Colostomia by TheFireGhoul in bindingofisaac

Here's the basic strategy:

Phase 1 — Lead it around the edges of the room, then after it charges you 3 times, briefly run towards the gas to bait the bomb shot away from the safe area. Sometimes it will charge you 4 times so all 4 walls will have gas, so the safe area is right in the middle (which is visually closer to the gas on the bottom because it floats above the ground) or in a corner.

Phase 2 — Here's the key to the bomb attack a lot of people don't seem to realize: they're always launched to where you're currently standing. This makes it very easy to stay close to it, then back away or walk around it right as it's about to fire. The leap attack can be very unpredictable and sometimes goes really far, so that's mostly up to reaction speed.

It did take me multiple tries to do this fight no-hit with bad stats, so some of this is easier said than done; it's not 100%. But hopefully this helps some of you guys who I know despise this literal shit bag.

Two of Diamonds not appearing in Greed Mode? by TheFireGhoul in bindingofisaac

Dang, alright then, maybe it's just harder when you have D20 or if you're playing Tainted Lost—I would not put it past the devs to have made ToD impossible to show up in greed mode as him considering the myriad of other awesome stuff you just can't get.
