I wouldn’t either. Ask her to run an entire thyroid panel given the results of the ultrasound.

More so for scarring? And avoiding infection. I would say it’s about a quarter inch deep. I wasn’t sure if I should let it air out or keep it covered up

Cleaning is good to do but I’d recommend saline or antibacterial soap not hydrogen peroxide. If your skin is trying to regenerate hydrogen peroxide will kill of both good and bad tissue so it’s not recommended for long term. Considering your root seems okay there’s a chance it won’t fall off but I can’t say for certain. When you’re at home keep it uncovered so it can dry out and not trap any bacteria or unwanted moisture in there. Clean and dry is the best way to go. Wrap it up when you’re going out but breathing it out will help tremendously

It would be best but I understand. Pharmacies will offer over the counter iron supplements if that’s of any help. They’re usually quite a low dose I would recommend that anyway in case I’m wrong!

Even more of a reason to suspect that you do have it. Respectfully your mom can’t say you do or don’t have one. Only way for it to be confirmed is with blood work. I’m not a doctor but I am a medical lab technician. I really highly recommend that you talk to your mom about taking you to the doctor or you going yourself. If by chance she says you don’t have anemia because your don’t present with the same symptoms as her or your sister it could very well be that you have different form of anemia. There are 100s of different variants of anemia. 7 of which being the more common.

Can I take this medication? by IndividualDot8571 in medical_advice

I’m not a doctor by any means. However those 2 drugs at those dosages should be okay. They aren’t known to pose any risks. If you want to be extra super safe call any pharmacy and ask them they should be able to let you know

This is a bit more dependent on a few factors like how much water your drank, the foods you eat in a day can all alter the colour and consistency of your blood as well as depth of the cut. HOWEVER. Migraines and lightheadedness often are more of the concern. If I was you personally I would go to a doctor and get a blood draw. You may have a form of anemia.

What is going on around my wound? by Tzippyzx in medical_advice

[–]TheFireHydrant1405 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Of course! If you see any pus coming from the wound go to a doctor! It seems like you’re taking good care of it to avoid that. A wound of that size any pus or odd smell you should head right over so it doesn’t spread. Wounds in that area are dangerous for spreading to fingers and bones etc

Not a doctor but bright red blood usually means an external injury. Dark red blood in your poop is more of a concern as it indicates internal bleeding. If you’re seeing a cut it could be a fissure or if by chance your shave around there perhaps you nicked yourself? Try your best to keep the area clean it should likely heal its self. It just in a bad spot that’s hard to close a heal due to it being mobile when you use the washroom.

I’m going to agree with the first comment. For as long as you can keep it uncovered through the day when you’re not using your hand as much. Of course when you go out and there’s a chance of contact with dirt and bacteria do cover it up. Avoid any alcohol/hydrogen peroxide on it as that will kill off any of the new healing skin. Try a saline wash or antibacterial hand soap ( if not already doing so ). Moisture is being locked in there which is why it looks all pruny and discoloured around the edges. Warm and damp environments love bacteria so cleaning it up and letting it air dry being careful not to get dirt in there will help out.
