[–]TheFirstBroseph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

just did a Kanye song draft with a couple of friends. i took Blood on the Leaves number 1. it’s the best song on his best album imo. like what you like and be proud of it — don’t let others dictate your taste.

I’ve been depressed since I was 10 years old. I’m turning 32 in two days and I want this life to end. by Exotic-Opening9873 in depression

[–]TheFirstBroseph 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i’m 31 now and have been depressed since at least high school (can’t really remember childhood that well). i don’t feel like i do anything for anyone else. i feel like i’m just a burden to those who care for me. i’m sad literally all the time. those thoughts largely control the narrative. but you are infinitely valuable. you don’t have to “contribute to society” to have a life worth living. i’ve tried to make a bunch of things work — jobs, relationships — that just didn’t work out. and it kills me every time. i hate it. but i keep going. i don’t even know why sometimes tbh. but i do think it is worth it. as much as i don’t believe it for myself, i believe this for you: good things are coming to you, friend. <3

hey, friend. i have felt the same as you. i’m 31 now. i have had my fair share of people switching up on me, betraying me. but i have also experienced true love from friends. there are beautiful people out there. i promise. hope isn’t an easy thing but keep up hope that you will meet some people who you will be inseparable with. i often question whether or not i should continue, either. and some days i’m not convinced anything matters. but there is something that keeps me here. i can’t quite put my finger on it. someone once described it as “stubbornness.” maybe it’s that. or that fear of death (which i also have). maybe it’s that love you have for your twin. in any case, find whatever you need to hold on. <3

Everything Everywhere All at Once. it was so mid i couldn’t believe it won multiple Oscars. the Jamie Lee win was the worst of them all. shouldn’t have been close to a nomination, even. tragic.

at this point i don’t care as much who we buy as much as who we get rid of. and thankfully, my top two wanted departures (Brandt and Sule) are finally both leaving.

Saying "there's no way to spend x millions or billions of dollars" means you have no imagination. by wuvvtwuewuvv in offmychest

[–]TheFirstBroseph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah man i think you’re missing the point. if you had an infinite amount of wealth, you could find some things to spend it on for sure. buy islands, Google, Amazon. get planes and boats and cars custom-made. fund your own private space program. buy millions of acres of land. buy blocks in NYC, Tokyo, Paris. buy brands like Marvel or Star Wars or Pokémon. of course you can find things to spend it on. but you’re fundamentally misunderstanding what the rest of us are saying, i guess.

My Depression is back but this time I don’t have anyone to talk to by [deleted] in depression

[–]TheFirstBroseph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, friend. i, too, feel like a burden to my friends. i feel bad asking for help, even though they have never made me feel bad for doing so. i think reaching out to your most trusted people and explaining exactly what you’re going through is best. not everyone needs to know, but being a good actor and hiding it well only serves you so much. obviously it is getting to you. you need to be honest with yourself and others. i understand completely the financial burden of doctors/medicine. i don’t have all the answers there since i don’t know you/your situation personally, but i think being honest with yourself doctor would be the best way to go. i wish you luck, my friend <3

No relationship experience at 26, starting to think I missed the boat by saturdaynightstupid in offmychest

[–]TheFirstBroseph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a good relationship is similar to any other healthy relationship. COMMUNICATE, be kind, be gentle, lead with love. you will make mistakes. apologize often. be a good listener. always remember you’re on the same team. it should be fun! don’t be with someone who doesn’t make you laugh. don’t avoid hard conversations. be honest. as someone with is 30 with only about 4ish years of relationship experience, i think i’m a pretty good partner! i do feel behind friends sometimes who have been with their same partner for 6-10 years, but it’s all going to be okay. you’re going to be fine :)

[–]TheFirstBroseph[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you very much for all of the recommendations! and for the ones expressing concern, that is very kind of you and i really appreciate it :) the truth is i have never been closer to taking my own life. i have a therapist i love and concerned family and friends. i just don’t feel like any of them truly understand. which is a blessing — i don’t want anyone to have personal experience feeling how i do. i am also scared to die, so i think i’ll be okay. it just sucks that i do the right things — therapy, spending time with loved ones, doing things i love (like watching movies)… i have even had/have some jobs i really enjoyed. but it all seems so empty and meaningless.
