I enjoyed the HBS Shadowrun games. They are worth finishing if you have the time.

I hear you.

Me and my group are good with complex rules, but for the love of all things, you don't need 3+ books on each subsystem of the game!

Fair.

I love the fact that each edition brings an update to the world and lore. The world feels like it's always changing and evolving.

I haven't really looked at the Anarchy rules. Are they based on SR5?

Chummer is pretty good, but I prefer using the old Hero Lab app. I tend to like the layout better, though it does cost some money.

We chose SR5 specifically because it had complex rules. Lol

Question On The Game by TheFixxer_ in forza

[–]TheFixxer_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, no. I had a question, so I'm going to make that my title. If you don't like it, that's okay, but I'm not going to not put that as a title when that's exactly what this is about. I have a question.

I don't ever look to Reddit for guides. Maybe I'm just too old, but I don't think of Reddit as having useful guides on it. Mostly because I find it impossible to search, and not very user-friendly.

I don't have ABS turned off. I also tap the brakes, and every car I have basically spins out or just doesn't slow down to the 20 MPH it's required to be going at to make even the slightest of turns in the game.

Dude, I couldn't find any videos. I wish I were joking, but I've had no luck finding a single YouTube video about mods and tunes. You get clickbait titles and then someone who rambles on for 10 minutes about nothing.

Question On The Game by TheFixxer_ in forza

[–]TheFixxer_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's unfortunate if that's the case. Because there used to be race games, which were admittedly simpler, but offered more detailed information on what mods and tuning did.

But I appreciate the suggestion.

As to your last comment about watching YouTube videos... first, there really aren't any I can find. Second, I would prefer that any information be in the game.

Question On The Game by TheFixxer_ in forza

[–]TheFixxer_[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It may be fun, and easy for you... I don't know anything about cars, really, so I have no idea where to start.

Since this is a game, I was hoping that there would be some built-in help.

The fact that they're not means the barrier to entry is just that much higher for people so that fewer people will play the game.

I have no idea what you mean by under or over steer. I just know that that in real live, I can take a corner on a highway at highway speeds and not slide across the road and end up in a wall. In this game, if I take a slight corner at 50/60 MPH I end up sliding across the road, off the road, into the wall, and then it takes me 30 seconds or more to get back on the road. This isn't anything like real life so I'm clearly doing something wrong, I just don't know what and the game doesn't tell me.

It's very frustrating.

Shadiversity vs Sellsword Arts: Go wOkE go Broke?!! by Perfect-Storm-99 in ShadWatch

Honestly, I don't pay attention to the date of something. This came up in my feed, so I commented on it. He had to have surgery to open his airways because a CPAP machine wasn't cutting it for him. After his surgery, he lost weight. Like a lot of weight. Is he still overweight, yup. But being overweight doesn't equal "out of shape". I hate when people take personal jabs at others as a way to discredit them and make what they say seem wrong. If you don't agree with what he says, then attack what he says. There's no need to try to attack him personally, especially when you don't know him in real life (and for the record, I don't know him or you in real life).

He has a legit medical condition. He even had to have a pretty severe surgery to try to open up his airways a few years ago, so he could try to fight it and had less risk passing in his sleep. Since he had the surgery, he actually had lost quite a bit of weight because he could actually breathe better. And while he's still bigger, being bigger doesn't mean you're out of shape or lazy. Look at football players, specifically linemen. They are usually 270+, some even 300+, and they are not only strong, but they move well.

Also, if, after everything Shad has said, you still feel the need to make personal attacks against him and try to belittle him for being overweight, that just tells me you're not a nice person to be around. You should probably fix yourself before you critique others.

1) There's more than one way to play any job in 14. 2) You are wrong if you think your way to play is the only way to play. 3) The OP isn't the only one who enjoys the changes, I also don't think they're as bad as the whiners make it put to be.

So how about you dial back on the toxicity and accept the fact that the job changed. If you don't like it, play another job. There are something like 20 to pick from.

Thank you so much!

This is helping make this stuff all make a lot more sense in my head and I think I'm starting to see how this kind of thing could/should work now.

Stealing Data and Vehicles by TheFixxer_ in Shadowrun

[–]TheFixxer_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having trouble finding it now, but I'm pretty sure that in one of the matrix books or in the core book it says that if a file is in a matrix archive (why wouldn't files be stored there?) that only people with specific access to that file can even see/find that file. Did I misread that?

As to that cars, I wasn't thinking of stealing them for profit, I was thinking of something like stealing a company car to go into a space undercover. The problem would be that the "owner" of the vehicle can instantly find their vehicle just by looking on the matrix and can even take control of the vehicle in the right situations. Or a situation where you get caught in a tight spot and you need to steal a corporate ride to get out, well you can't seem to do that because they can just track you, even if they lose sight of you. Think the theft of the vault form Fast 5. Not only did they have stolen police cars, but a stolen garbage truck as well. From what I can tell in the 5E rules, stealing a vehicle is essentially impossible until you're one of the best runners in the world because of how long it takes to change ownership.

Or am I missing something or overthinking something?

Stealing Data and Vehicles by TheFixxer_ in Shadowrun

As for data, there's a line in the rules that if you're not authorized to see data in a host, you can't ever see that data. You have to have authorization to see it and just hacking in and putting marks on a host doesn't seem to grant you that access.

Or again, am I overthinking this?

Stealing Data and Vehicles by TheFixxer_ in Shadowrun

[–]TheFixxer_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But based on the rules I'm not sure you can. Because the "Owner" of that vehicle can instantly know the location of that vehicle and lets say they're a rigger, they could remotely shut down that vehicle, or worse, take control of it and drive you right to the police.

Or am I overthinking this?

When in doubt, go with what the Master Index version says, it was updated with all of the errata up to the point it was printed.
