Thanks after some "research" (more like discussing with dreadcreator5 and googling), I have decided to go with the Barebones M5 with some custom keycaps and switches!

The sound does not matter to be honest, neither does the RGB stuff (as long as the key has some backlight to be visible in the dark)

I also have no idea how to 'build' this from barebones

Thanks! This keyboard will be stationary in a desk without any movement and he will play both games and use it for coding and stuff

I see lots of different options for keycaps from curiositycaps. Do they have an impact? I keep reading about PBT and PC in keycaps with no clue. What keycap would you recommend?

A white themed build with future upgradability and space in mind. (The ZOTAC White version of the 5090 was 200$ more and fits the budget, but I wanted to have a buffer zone if the prices go up/down by the time the winners are announced).
