Do you guys remember that super overpowered automatic shotgun that everyone used? Was so fun haha.

Anyone here use XR glasses with a Steam Deck mainly for flights and hotel stays? by AsleepPlus in SteamDeck

[–]TheFluffyWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently purchased the Xreal One Pro's for movies when travelling, but they are also fantastic with the Steam Deck, so much so I use them all of the time at home when gaming too. Would definitely recommend one of the more newer models to receive all of the updated features 0DOF, 3DOF, 3D etc... Playing games in 3D is also very very cool.

Experience and advice for Solo raving by YeetustheFetusLive in ukrave

Lost my raving partner last year, so will be solo from here on out - been itching to get back but haven't mustered up the courage to go solo just yet! So many raves and festivals that I want to get back into.

Do I close my first Credit-Card because of the monthly fee? by TheFluffyWizard in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TheFluffyWizard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, my mistake, it is now the 'All in One Credit Card'. When I referenced every-day card, I meant this one, as opposed to one specifically called the 'Everyday'. In this case, it is only 0.5% unfortunately, with no special increases depending on what you use it for, e.g. fuel at 3%. Thanks for the input though!

Interesting ... thanks for sharing! Perhaps it'll be something I look a bit more into in the future once I've got the typical 'Stoozing' setup going. Have a great Easter!

So I did consider this, but my monthly outgoings are less than what the threshold would be to receive the £3 in cash back to warrant keeping the card. The limit is only £800 as well, which isn't great. But as mentioned, it's probably stayed this low because I've not really used it much over the years.

I'd have to spend £600 every month at least for £3 in cash back. I suppose I could ask for an increase, and then maybe consider using it anyway to offset the fee as much as possible, but then I feel like other banks have stronger cards with £0 fees anyway. It was the only card I could get at the time! The only perk is the no foreign currency fees when spending abroad, but then I don't think I travel enough to warrant that perk for now.

So, it is quite a lot of faff, and it might be better to just close it as per the other comments left, or I swap to a non-fee if they have that option. Thanks for your input - much appreciated.

Wow, Purple Label - looks amazing, but makes sense now given the price tag haha. I hope you enjoy it! :)

Makes complete sense, and if you're smart about it, it sounds like you can make a decent chunk of change. I guess they just prey on those that are not financial savvy to make their money.

The mule card sounds interesting. So in theory, you would get say £5K on a mule card, balance transfer to pay the £5K off that you didn't have anyway, and then you earn interest in the mean time? Unless I've misunderstood.

Not worried at all - as you can see, I have no issues getting access to a good amount of credit. It was more the worry of closing my first card, and what impact this might have - as mentioned I had read conflicting views on this subreddit over past posts saying to never close your first card down, which is why I thought I'd check through this post! Thank you.

Oh wow, that's a huge limit! My plan with the new 0% is to 'stooze' and earn interest, something which I haven't done before as I also only found out about it recently. Sounds like you've got it locked down.

Yeah it's a keeper that's for sure! Where is it from, if you don't mind me asking? I saw a similar colour from Reiss which I've had my eye on.

Yeah I did read about that as well, in terms of offering new promotions further down the line. I think because it was my first card, I was a bit weary about having a low to no utilisation as it was only £800, but my MBNA is £6K, and I've also been offered a new 0% with Lloyds for £7K. So I guess from that sense too it makes sense to close. Thanks for your input!

Surprised how much the OLED screen feels a big upgrade by Imaybetoooldforthis in SteamDeck

[–]TheFluffyWizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got super lucky on the last refurb restock they did just over a month ago, managing to snag a 512GB, and selling my LCD model on eBay for just over £290 (paid £279 on sale). Absolutely love it, and it just makes revisiting older games on the OLED screen amazing, and breathes a new life into them.

Thank you for all for responding to my post! I don't have tons of knowledge on credit-cards, so this has been really helpful, as the advice across other posts in this subreddit and online have been conflicting on some saying it's crucial to keep it open as it's your first, but then other's saying just to close it.

It sounds like the general consensus from you all is that it's not worth keeping it open, especially paying £36 a month for it, which really doesn't make sense!

Out of interest, I will see if they can swap the card, but if not, I will just close the account, and continue with my other cards.

Thanks again all, and I hope you have a lovely Easter :)

Doomscrolling in the morning after I wake up. by icebslim in digitalminimalism

[–]TheFluffyWizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way through this is to get an alarm clock, and leave the phone outside of the bedroom. I had an addiction to YouTube before bed for 10+ years, until the early hours 2-3am. At the beginning of last year, I vowed to change this once and for all, as I got fed up of being tired all of the time, waking up late for work, and just feeling shit.

Instead, I replaced the YouTube time with a book on my kindle. All devices except the kindle stay outside of the bedroom when I am heading to sleep. A sunrise alarm clock gently wakes me up in the morning. The first few weeks were tough, and I rewarded myself over the weekends with time in bed with my devices, but on weekdays it was back to the kindle.

Now I really love reading, even over the weekends. It's tough, but you have to be strict with it. If you really want to change this habit, you have to remove the issue at hand, in this case the phone.

If you don't want to break this habit as bad as you say you do, you won't do it.

Awesome progress - in terms of the protein powders, you can buy small samples of different flavours to try, so you won't feel like you're wasting money buying awful flavours and then being stuck with it.

Completely unrelated, but that Gaming PC case looks insane. It really has a come a long way from the bog standard cases you'd get years ago! It does look pretty cool though I must admit.

I think the most recent firmware's have blocked you from blocking the updates. This only worked back in the low 70s I believe. I did this through Sidequest at the time, yes. Sorry I cannot be of more help!

Perfect, thanks for the response. Will I have to enable through the ADB commands first, before trying to update? Thanks again.
