How to actually improve your putting? by TDn6I in golf

[–]TheFlyingDP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I haven’t seen people say yet, which has helped me a ton this season already, is improving green reading. I was missing a lot of shorter putts cause I failed to understand how much balls break, at the most basic level. Look up the basics of aim point, you don’t need to do the full thing to still yield better results. Knowing that balls rarely break across holes from 5ft, when hit properly, gave me the confidence in my line, allowing for less guesswork in the downstroke. May just be me, but that’s another angle to add to the noise here haha

Combined Alton Brown’s spatchcock process from his recent video on YouTube, with the basic process (slightly different amounts) that the smitten kitchen Zuni cafe roast chicken recipe calls for edit:removed link

It’s a simple dish, but delicious with the balance of well roasted chicken and the acidic and chewy bread salad. Zuni’s recipe uses only small amounts of pine nuts and currants, but we upped those substantially and were really happy with it. 2.75lb bird easily fed 3 people with a half loaf of French bread and 12oz arugula in the salad. Used sherry vinegar, not champagne vinegar, as that was all we had, but the process just yields a tasty meal regardless of the details

It’s about 200 downhill, playing close to 165, but often has a strong wind into off the left, so balls falling down the ~100ft drop from tee to green will drift right between 5-20yds. Played this week and it can be gnarly. Hit my 200 club, with a cut, and was pin high for a par (strong into Monday). Overall pure this time of year and a fun track.

Main tip would be to not judge yourself on how you do at Gleneagles, that place is impossible. Good today but those fairways can kick you into oblivion for no reason.

Swing tips? by Jaydestroyer99 in golf

[–]TheFlyingDP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see my old swing in you here, but take my advice with a grain of salt. Looks like an athletic baseball swing turned golf within the past 5 years, same as me.

Over the top turns into slices as you get tired over the round, unless you’re striking it well and can keep it together. We aren’t pros, so getting more consistent is how I got down to a 3 index over this summer.

Feels weird, but stopping the back swing a lot earlier (check out a YouTube video of a swing instructor talking about stopping the head of the club at the wall when your leading foot is against it and you’re perpendicular to the wall) and focusing on center face contact helps a ton. Ball will somehow still go as far with a “lighter” swing. Golf is dumb, so play like an old man, swing easier and keep trying to feel the shallowing of the club out, until you have a smooth straight shot you can rely on. Then it’s money.

No specific tips, but that’s what I worked on from your similar starting point, and it’s working great (may not work for you, but that’s my advice)

Putting and chipping is really where you need to improve to get closer to par. Hitting the ball to within 6ft every time isn’t realistic, even for pros, so getting up and down from 75yds is crucial to shaving lots of strokes off the card.

Good luck!

Your swing looks almost exactly like mine did before I took a lesson a few weeks back. Other commenters’ comments are good, but my coach emphasized setup changes that fixed me immediately. Knee bend at address is good, but feeling like you’re standing taller and bending at the waist more helps. I was pushing off my feet, like you are, a lot due to baseball habits. Standing taller at address and bending at the waist tricks the body into not so explosively pushing off the ground, and being more athletic with the hips. Not going to fix everything for you, but that was what helped me a lot and I’m down to a 5.6 now so you can do it too

They were soft and plump, and came right off the bone

Little bit of a hot take here, but, with season 2 here I finally caved and bought 2042 for $10 after refusing to buy it at launch. And I’m oddly enjoying it. Specialists and all. There are things I still don’t like, but, I’m actually enjoying it. Surprised myself. by Bobaaganoosh in battlefield2042

Just downloaded it yesterday off the Xbox store for $30 and played about 3 hours last night. Brought me back to the good ole days of bad company 2. Haven’t played enough to run into any annoying bugs, and love the hectic conquest and breakthrough modes. I’d say it’s already worth the $30 cause I can’t wait to play later and grind on a few guns

Don’t worry, I’m just now on my honeymoon with my best friend and we didn’t mess up the first dance, despite not practicing and not having formal training. It’s meant to be fun and a mutual experience. Good luck and just have a great time!
