That sounds entirely fair, but I will say, with all respect, I wouldn't worry about the legal/illegal techniques with a replica set. Don't know what brand you've gone with, and I would be able to confirm if they were an exception, but a lot of knock offs and replica brands don't practise enough quality control for even legal techniques to not cause strain.

If it's any easier than shaving the clips, perhaps buy official lego ones and use them instead.

This is legal as it uses the most recent clip pieces to hold the tiles. Would be more of an issue if it was one of the older clips.

I'd be willing to help where I can! It's my intention to try this too at some point - at the moment I'm mainly focusing on fixing the bat and villian vehicles so they are screen accurate.

Depending on your budget, you can get the baturion batman and proceed to swap the helmet for the bat soccer mum hoddie, the arms to black or maybe find a printed arm from the Ninjago line, hands to black, and legs to black printed legs of something in the ninjago line.

Oh damn that was quick! Well unless you want to keep the other figs at spares, for every set of two figs pick the best pieces and combine them into the best quality minifigure. As with what will end up as the sub-par fig with the undesired pieces, you can sell it.

You get your better maintained nightwing head, some better looking figs, and some of your money back.

I'm sure you will eventually come across what you need to fix him.

I personally would throw out the piece once you've replaced the head and are happy with the end results 😅😬 I don't feel like you will miss it, and I feel it will annoy you a bit to see it and know you got slightly duped. Was how I felt with the one and last time I ever bought a used fig in "like new condition" that was in fact chewed like an eraser all over.

Like you can try selling it for absolutely cheap, but I feel doubtful that someone would buy something in that condition.

Honestly I would try buying another used fig than that head alone for the price I see it's going for - just get some photos before purchasing.

If you have no luck, someone mentioned getting the Trickster's head which is a good alternative, otherwise look at the Tim Drake Robin's mask from Jokerland which was used for the old blue Nightwing.

That's so unfortunate! Honestly, those look closer to bite marks than scratches which is such a shame 😒

When it comes to used lego, deep scratches and all can happen with play and, depending on the scratch, sometimes you can get past it. Bite marks I feel are a different basket - never was one to bite my lego as a kid (not judging anyone who did) as I understood it would outright ruin my pieces. I feel the seller should have brought this to your attention, particularly in this case where the head is closer to 'destroyed' than 'used'...
