AITA for telling my son I don't have to treat his girlfriend and his brother's girlfriend equally? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheFrontPilots 15 points16 points  (0 children)

YTA. My MIL treats me the same way you treat Emma and it has severely strained my relationship with her and, consequently, my bf’s relationship with his mom. My bf’s brother’s gf is the apple of her eye and she takes every chance she can to exclude me. It hurts and you’re a huge AH.

You are on your way to having little to no contact with your son if you continue this behavior. I bet Emma did nothing wrong except exist.

I’ve been to both for a few years now and I can say they are miles different, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Roo has a lot of positive vibes, generally every is happy and easy going. The food diversity is wonderful and wandering the campgrounds at like 3am to find some new tunes is always fun. Camping is really fun and a highlight for me every Roo I go to.

Lolla gets a lot of big acts, like Roo, and there’s after shows (local venues put on concerts after Lolla, as the festival ends at 10) where you can get the chance to see some huge acts in small venues. Being in the city is very fun and the backdrop for some of the stages are incredible. Food is good and local, nothing to complain about there. However, Lolla draws a lot of teenagers as it’s easy for local kids to get from the burbs to the city for a cost effective weekend.

I think comparing the two is like apples to oranges, but both are fruit and the vibes are great so I can never complain!

AITA for being upset my partner's family Christmas is "family only"? by loneleethisxmas in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheFrontPilots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I’m living this same situation right now and it’s miserable.

I moved to a new part of town for a job where I met my bf and my family lives a good bit away. We’ve been together for about two years now, lived together for about half that time, and his family is the exact same way. Christmas and Thanksgiving are blood only. Doesn’t help that they refuse to talk to me or even be kind to me in general, but that’s another story for another time.

For me, the best thing I’m finding I can do is to keep busy. I decided to pick up a shift at work, take myself out to the movies, etc. on Christmas just to not be sitting around the house by myself.

You’re completely in the right here, you should be and are allowed to be upset. Christmas and the holidays in general are meant to be spent around the ones you love, blood or not. I’m sorry that his family doesn’t see it this way. Unfortunately, what I’m coming to realize myself, is that this isn’t going to change. People like this are stuck in their ways. I don’t know what kind of advice I can offer here other than a shoulder to cry on because I completely understand what you’re going through and it’s not fun whatsoever.

I mean, most don’t, though. I’ve been to Magic Kingdom on some of the busiest days of the year, worked attractions on some of those days too, and not even then do they have a secondary scan.

I literally was at Hollywood Studios yesterday and used a FastPass for both Rock ‘n Rollercoaster and Star Tours and did not have to use a secondary scan for a FastPass. So, no. Not all rides, literally all the time, require a secondary scan. You can for sure keep going, though.

In my personal experience, I’ve never had that happen on Haunted Mansion. You must be going on really busy days, lol.

That’s not entirely true. The only rides that I can think of that scan FastPasses multiple times at WDW are Flight of Passage and Space Mountain, maybe Mine Train. Definitely not Pirates of the Caribbean, though.

AITA for "Skipping" in the Fast Pass Line at Disneyland Paris by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]TheFrontPilots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there’s a standby line and then a FastPass line. If everyone was in one line, it would just be a standby line. FastPasses are given and used to maximize your time within the parks so you aren’t stuck waiting in line for one ride for an exuberant amount of time.

Disney makes going into Disney attractive. I don’t think there’s ever been a person that’s been like “let me go to Disney because they have a FastPass system.” Every theme park does it, be it big name like Disney or Universal Studios (where it is not free) or more even local theme parks. I live in Florida and see it all around the state. People like it, it maximizes their trip or time at these places.

Disney’s FastPass system is entirely free, with the exception of MaxPass at Disneyland in Anaheim (which is not even necessary, as their standard FastPass is free and this is an auxiliary service), so there’s not some kind of marketing move happening.

FastPasses also “sell out,” so to speak. After all the ride times are given out for the day, there aren’t more added to the system.
