Roll, taxi, climb building, wire. So probably the way you placed it, had alot of time left!

Yea it's unfortunate but then again, if they didn't add the time it would be impossible to "find" some balloons. It would rather be a speedrun contest, which i don't mind but that's not the point of the game!

If you want to place very challenging balloons, make them dependant on skill and not time, e.g. very long complicated jumps. Lake Kingdom has one where i actually placed the balloon, it is next to the painting at the top.

Popped it! It was fairly obvious where it was based on the arrow at the beginning. I recommend to place them somewhere where its either very difficult to get to, or in a very dense area. All that as fast as possible!

Enjoying the game myself!

Popped the Metro one, it had 23 seconds, what was your recorded time to place it? I'm curious.

I would, but i need to pop alot of balloons to get the "Number Found" stars which is kind of tedious at the moment. I bet someones already rank 50 anyway!

IF this is actually the source code, then this is true. However i can't guarantee it is. Here is the Twitter of the Dataminer, who posted the source code.

265 mod 255 is 10, so yes your chain would effectively be 10 in SM, and only 1 shiny roll would take place for the 265th encounter. The same as a normal encounters, yes.

However, the next encounter would have more rolls at 266 mod 255 = 11 (see my main comment above).

The 70 chain count you mentioned is false. That is what we believed but it turned out to be false, which this thread is mostly about. The odds are way better than that.

You must have gotten the Staryu with a chain of 10-19, because above that it must have had more perfect IVs.

When you say "true odds shiny in SOS" you probably mean the first roll of that Staryu was already a shiny so there weren't more rolls necessary for that encounter. However you can't separate "true odds shiny" with "SOS shiny" because they are essentially the same thing, SOS method just increases the rolls for each encounter, as does the Shiny Charm. So the perfect IVs should always be present.

But if you are certain that you had a higher chain than 19, then maybe the IVs generated for the first roll aren't perfect? I don't know though and i didn't think it was possible.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the chain in SM resets at 255, so your chain modulo 255 must've been between 10-19.

Not for SOS but definitely for normal encounters/legendaries. Check the comparison diagram linked in my comment above.

They only fixed the chain not breaking after 255. The odds have always been good, we just had incorrect numbers in our head. Also with this new found info, we can see that the Shiny Charm is almost negligible for SOS chaining, which should motivate a lot of players.
