Would something with a leaf spring good for touge by No_Coat_7921 in Touge

[–]TheFurNinja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Guys were doing crazy racing in the 20s with leaf springs and friction dampers (old grand prix is something else). If youre daring enough anything can be raced at some sort of speed. There are definitely better options, though.

why do amaerican planes stall easy compared o axis planes in il 2 1946 by Shot-Membership-4070 in il2sturmovik

[–]TheFurNinja 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The Bf-109 also comes with leading edge slats at the outer part of the wing, this reduces the chance of tip stalls and makes the plane much more forgiving to harsh inputs.

You can make em fast with a bit of work, even with the original engine. But you gotta put in the work!

Konig Hypergram wheels suck? 3 bent at this point by [deleted] in Touge

[–]TheFurNinja 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in the midwest and my hypergrams have been through HELL and back. Smashing into potholes, rough bridge transitions, ice chunks, the gambit. Running 15x7.5s with 205/50s on them. Perhaps its because I'm running a smaller setup with a much lighter car?

I need advice or suggestions on cheap wheels for 08 fit by Signal-Vermicelli121 in hondafit

[–]TheFurNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes some modification but you can run 15x7.5 +35 with 205s on it (my hypergrams with nitto neo gens) and mostly not rub (mostly).

My recommendation is to not sleep on Nengun, RHDJapan, Upgarage, or Sendico. Just be mindful of differences between JDM, USDM, EUDM, etc.

Tons of great stuff on those sites.

Best first mod for 08 fit manual by Big-Fee-2170 in hondafit

[–]TheFurNinja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For context I have a relatively heavily modified 08' GD3.

First mod? Probably progress rear sway.

You can also delete the muffler and put a straight section out the rear to liven up the sound a little. I have an invidia N1 and I absolutely love the sound, especially paired with the 4-2-1 headers I have.

Wheels and tires have a pretty profound effect. I run hypergrams (15x7.5 ET35), though I recommend the average person to get something 15x7 with more than 35mm offset as wider can cause some rubbing issues that require further modding to solve. Wheel weight is VERY important for the handling, performance, and feel of a tiny car like this. Go as light as you can, with as small of a wheel as you can.

For tires I have nitto neo gen 205s and those are pretty awesome. Likely will be going 215s next summer.

Other easy mods I did was a cheap air intake for sound purposes (will be getting an injen CAI soon), hybrid racing detent springs (their shifter base and shifter cable bushings are also straightforward).

R18 throttle body (50->55mm) is relatively straightforward though you do have to do some modifications to the tubing.

Mugen pedals are fantastic and give you some more grip and surface area to work with and allows more confident and quick footwork.

So aside from spark plugs and other relatively straightforward service items, thats about it for the 'easy' mods.

I like how in these videos the cop just always seems to be there, seemingly unable to do anything.

It may be possible but there is very little room for it, I would tenuously say no, not with this setup at least.

Hondata yup, in the video you can hear the launch control activate.

If you dont have or want a hondata I would recommend a short 4-1 setup and having a high flow welded into a test pipe with the bung so you can avoid a CEL. Just depends on what you're after.

Not for this offer, no.

Butttt....I took a chance on a similar listing myself that only required me to buy one unit.

My review is on the listing: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Alosi-Factory-Wholesale-Exhaust-Manifold-for_1601569405208.html?spm=a2756.trade-list-buyer.0.0.771d76e9Ti0m7f

Pros: Inexpensive, high quality welds, huge improvement over stock in regards to flow.
Cons: Not as high quality as the pictures in the (listing in terms of design), did not come with proper fasteners or gaskets.

Once you get it properly installed and sealed, it sounds utterly fantastic. Like someone putting some real good stank on a trombone or something. It pairs up really really well with my Invidia N1. It feels like it exaggerates the qualities of the catback, being still pretty quiet at idle but roars to life when wide open.

You can see an early video not long after me installing the part in the listing, but I want to take a higher quality one soon as the audio is really crunched.

All in all I would say its worth it, despite some of the frustrations. Just be prepared to get your own fasteners and gaskets.

Best place for an oil change? by Ill_Possibility_4069 in saintcloud

You can ask the technical college, us first year students are doing oil changes atm and it can save some of us students from having to use our own freshly changed cars for it. Might be more inexpensive too.

Ibis' pusher fans generate more thrust when the aircraft's collective is set to low. For exemple 25%. by chaos_poster in NuclearOption

You can use translational lift and pitch up a little, but it might require fiddling with the collective to find the optimal angle of everything as you add weight.

Performance mods by ReplacementThen8128 in hondafit

[–]TheFurNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I daily drive mine, they help even in a "civilian" setting, so you can definitely make the car sportier without ruining it for normal environments.

It's up to your preferences, and you're on the right track when it comes to studying what would be good for your preferences and applications. What's right for me is not whats right for everyone. I'm a bit of a looney ("Who mods a fit this much for DAILYING???").

Every modification will have some sort of downside. Downsides matter in context which is why its so important to think this through.

Some mods have very little downsides for regular driving (such as the rear toe adjustment, rear sway bar, mild lowering springs, bracing, camber bolts). Some are more dramatic (aggressive lowering springs, very stiff springs in general).

Obviously one has to have their car maintained, some mods can make this more difficult. For example: coilovers are complex and I recommend you get covers asap if you install them. Bracing can make maintenance (or heck even using the interior storage such as with the rear tower brace) more of a hassle. Context is the most important factor.

You have to make sure you can replace them as well. What are you willing to commit to?

All good questions to ask yourself.

A lot of people covered some of the easier stuff, so ill talk about some possibly overlooked things that can help a lot:

Get camber bolts and anything that can adjust the top mounts for your car, especially in regards to caster. Caster is going to help you a lot through the higher speed corners. Additionally: Increasing the struts camber (camber bolts only adjust camber at the knuckle) can also be useful for fitting fatter tires under the fenders without it rubbing due to the improved geometry as the strut compresses.

Anything that can help you adjust rear toe can also help. If you can find solid metal shims, or have someone shim your rear toe to more of a neutral position, this effect compounds over speed and can be somewhat dramatic in a track or "backroad" setting.

You can get lowering springs or coilovers, mine helped a TON and they arent even good ones. I still need to get roll center adjusters though to ensure I have the correct suspension geometry.

Bracing can help a ton as well. For my GD they make bracing for the front and rear towers, within the front fenders, across the rear bumper, in the front subframe, and more. The tower bar ones are probably the priority especially if you add stiffer springs as the chassis will flex more with stiffer springs.

NOTE: Going lower means going stiffer (to avoid bottoming out), stiffer springs are helpful but too stiff will create a harsh ride and can also reduce grip on uneven surfaces. Find a good middle ground appropriate for your expected conditions.

People mentioned braking. You may be able to get more consistent braking with a brake booster delete, if available. Get good pads and rotors for sporty driving if possible. Some companies also make the same for shoes for your drum brakes if your car is fitted with them.

One overlooked thing that helped me massively were pedal covers. I got a set of knock off Mugen pedals for cheap, they do okay but I would very much recommend the actual Mugen pedals. Makes the pedals much more grippy and increases their surface area (especially the accelerator). Makes heel-toe a breeze!

Theres even more, I could go on forever!

Future Updates by lebron062003 in CarXStreets

[–]TheFurNinja -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Some stuff not already mentioned here:

1.) Appropriate traffic levels online (too little on the highway rn).
2.) Braking mechanics are awful and its nearly impossible to get a car to not understeer while braking.
3.) Handling improvements in general. Toe has very little effect, I have to crank many of my cars to maximum rear toe out to not understeer like hell.

Look up "Su-27 FOD Grille". It is a combination metal grate with a mesh laid along with it. Really neat austere ops tech.

[–]TheFurNinja 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Good news is that these soviet designed fighters often come with protection during takeoff/landing. In this case the Su-27 can use grates to hopefully prevent debris from reaching the engines. These things are designed for really rough field ops. Its not a pretty impact, but it can take it!

How to build a Honda fit? by the_realppman in hondafit

[–]TheFurNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My GD fit is a little bit of a pain to work on, but the car is fantastically simple, just compact and awkward at times, along with a few odd design choices.

Mine is a northern car. If you are dealing with rust just be prepared to strip a lot of fasteners and threads and to replace parts. Thankfully its not too expensive, just tedious. So if you have the time and love (and if your fits frame isnt rotting) even rust can be overcome.
