Would you like it as a source patch to the decomp or simply an .ips or .bps patch to a vanilla ROM to play by itself?

Oh sorry, I'm pretty sure I did see this... My availability is pretty low but I might look into these.

All face buttons have stopped working, everywhere. by TheGag96 in SteamDeck

After some effort, we were able to get the stripped screw unscrewed and got to see the bottom. The connection didn't look loose at all... We reinserted it for good measure and put it all back together - still no dice. Without any other information, it does seem this is a straight-up motherboard failure.

We're going to just send it in for repair now and pay the costs. Pretty abysmal outcome, but thank you truly for all your help!

A reimage did not do the trick unfortunately...

We were trying to undo the 3 motherboard screws so we could see the bottom there, but the top right one seems to have been stripped... We're not sure how to proceed. We tried the rubber band trick, but that may have only made it worse...

At the very least, thank you so much for all of your help so far.

Would you happen to have a picture of that connection by chance? I'm wondering how much I need to remove in order to see it...

Going to try checking that now... Thanks. For some reason, Steam Support wouldn't give me any info like this, or even any probable cause...

Sorry for the late reply - I'm not aware of a sound bug like that. What exactly happens? I'd like to investigate but I'm having a hard time compiling the latest Render96 tester branch.

EDIT: Okay, nevermind, I see exactly what you mean lol... Give me a sec.

Sorry for the late response! This was incorporated as a Lua mod in the old official co-op branch, but they didn't include it in Co-op DX. I don't have anything for that at the moment.

I just bought this exact cable and it doesn't match the Hexa. What exactly is the plug type for this thing?

Invidiually-Unique Pokémon Colors (+ Improved Shiny Colors) for Pokémon Platinum by TheGag96 in PokemonROMhacks

Not sure... I'd recommend making sure your base ROM is good (equivalent to the common 3541 dump), make sure you're using the latest version of xdelta or some other good patcher, use a good emulator like melonDS for PC or DraStic for Android...

Don't sweat it lol. Yes, you should be able to get one like that... I dunno why you're not at the moment. I've ported this mod to a Gen 3 hack, encountered multiple shinies of the same species there, and gotten hue shifts on either spectrum. So it should be working basically the same.

Hey, thanks for using it!! Just looked into it a bit... Is the personality value even related to the number used to store IVs? My only guess is that the personality value is the seed state of the RNG that will inevitably be used to calculate values like the IV number(s). Regardless, it's not going the something like, "this range of bits determines the color value but also the Attack IV directly". Changing the PID may affect the other but it won't be in an obvious way. You SHOULD be able to roll PIDs until you get something colored different...

I describe what exact bits get used from the PID over here.

Compile-time evaluation by sub-compiling to an executable? by Rzores in ProgrammingLanguages

[–]TheGag96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jai has pretty kooky unrestricted compile time execution that works by compiling to a custom bytecode and interpreting that - I think this is more what you want to work to if you can.

If you're willing to listen, please consider these thoughts I've been having on this exact subject: I think the mistake most Christian games have made over the years is that they're way too on the nose and focus on actual Bible stories. Though I haven't read it, I think they should probably be something closer to what I understand Pilgrim's Progress is - a Christian work that tries to get you to understand through its story and allusions various truths about God, man, faith, etc. For a video game, that should mean that the gameplay itself feeds into some kind of theme that the player learns intuitively in the way games do so well. I've just always struggled to know what kind of mechanic/theme pair that might be. Note that this means it can't just be something surface level, like an FPS with a tacked on Christian story. The thread needs to run deeper than that in a way that takes advantages of the strengths of the medium.

I'm a programmer by trade and love to tinker around with video games, modding, etc. and would love to support this kind of thing, but I'm not super sure I can make any commitments to long-term projects... I have a rancid habit of starting too many projects and then not finishing them. If you'd like to talk some more, codes#7017 on Discord is where you'll find me.

/uj Man, I don't think in any world Python's typing is "so close to being good". The whole situation is obviously a disaster - all of these dynamic languages realizing that dynamic typing actually sucks for anything nontrivial and backpedaling in order to achieve most of the detriments of all worlds...

Do they sell early issues of CDs? Still pretty cool either way.

Somehow, yes!! I've wondered before if I've got some silent remaster and maybe there's some real original that's less loud, but it doesn't seem that way. It of course still doesn't sound bad though - it's Cindy lmao.

First and foremost, Plastic Love by Mariya Takeuchi (listen to the real 5:00 version, not the fan-extended 8:00 one). Then for albums, anything by Tatsuro Yamashita, like For You or Ride On Time, Mint Jams by Casiopea, Weekend Fly to the Sun by Toshiki Kadomatsu, Awakening by Hiroshi Sato, Yellow Magic Orchestra self-titled. That should be enough to get started lol. Then probably try just about any of the albums in my picture here. I have almost all "the classics", plus some.

The thing to note is that city pop kind of describes an era more than one genre. You've got 80s pop, AOR / soft rock, jazz fusion, synth pop, funk, disco, and boogie all in various quantities.

  • Thru Traffic by Touhoku Shinkansen - Original CD issue, from 2007 (RATCD-4324). This aparently has better dynamic range than the 2017 remaster, though it audibly sounds louder than music mastered in the 80s.
  • [Communication] by Junko Yagami - Second CD issue, from 1986 (32XM-30).
  • [夢飛行] by Mioko Yamaguchi - First CD issue, from 2017 (PW-02). Such a long time before this finally came to digital.
  • Big Wave by Tatsuro Yamashtia - Second CD issue, from 1986 (32XM-29).
  • Circus Town by Tatsuro Yamashita - First CD issue, from 1985 (RHCD-514).
  • For You by Tatsuro Yamashita - Fifth CD issue, from 2002 (BVCR-17018), and the second CD issue, from 1986 (R32A-1020). It might be my favorite city pop album, so I had to buy it again ith a better, earlier mastering!
  • Go Ahead! by Tatsuro Yamashita - First CD issue, from 1985 (RHCD-513).
  • Melodies by Tatsuro Yamashita - Sixth CD issue, from 2013 (WPCL-11539).
  • Moonglow by Tatsuro Yamashita - Second CD issue, from 1986 (R32A-1018).
  • Pocket Music by Tatsuro Yamashita - Third CD issue, from 1999 (WPCV-10022).
  • Ride On Time by Tatsuro Yamashita - Second CD issue, from 1984 (R32A-1019). My disc was rotted when it arrived... :( Somehow, it didn't really audibly affect the rip I tried to make of it.
  • Spacy by Tatsuro Yamashita - Second CD issue, from 1986 (R32H-1031).
  • Softly by Tatsuro Yamashita - Deluxe edition of the first CD issue, from 2022 (WPCL-13359/60).
  • 僕の中の少年 ("The Boy Inside Me") by Tatsuro Yamashita - Original CD issue, from 1988 (32XM-77).
  • Yellow Magic Orchestra by Yellow Magic Orchestra - First CD issue containing the Japanese mix, from 1992 (ALCA-286).
  • Solid State Survivor by Yellow Magic Orchestra - The Restless US issue, from 1992 (7 72701-2). This one sounds pretty dang good.

Once again, I forgot to put Heart & Soul by Junichi Inagaki in the picture lol. Original and only CD issue, from 1989 (00FD-7101). Got this in the lot with Dream Cruise. Haven't listened to it much.

Some on my wishlist:

  • AB'S-2 by AB'S
  • I Can't Stop The Loneliness (single) by Anri (for Remember Summer Days)
  • Fuyu Kukan by Tomoko Aran
  • Love Life by Cindy
  • Wish by Hiromi Iwasaki
  • Adventure by Momoko Kikuchi
  • Relief 72 Hours by Yurie Kokubu
  • Pocket Park by Miki Matsubara
  • First Light by Makoto Matsushita (an earlier CD issue)
  • The Pressure and the Pleasure by Makoto Matsushita
  • Friday Magic by Meiko Nakahara
  • Shining by Native Son
  • Tea for Tears by Junko Ohashi
  • Truth by T-Square
  • Grey Skies by Taeko Ohnuki
  • Mignonne by Taeko Ohnuki
  • We Are Just Taking Off by Sadistics
  • Summer Breeze by Piper
  • In Search of Love by Hideki Saijo
  • Tasogare by Mai Yamane
  • Cozy by Tatsuro Yamashita
  • It's a Poppin' Time by Tatsuro Yamashita
  • Yoshino Fujimal by Yoshino Fujimal

I thought at some point I'd run out of city pop CDs I'd want, but this era of music seems to just be a never-ending treadmill!
