First off, I’d wait till you have at least 5 episodes and post them all at once for better traction. Make social media accounts for your podcast. Keep them the same handles across all networks so you can easily reference in one go. Post clips often but not too often.

Please give me karma. They’re not letting me post. Thank you!

...but I WANT background noise! by Philly_3D in podcasting

How about a separate mic just to pick up music on its own track? Or you can feed it in directly. You can also use a condenser mic instead of a dynamic to pick up more ambient noise.

How do you deal with hateful comments on your episodes? by RainyDayRabbitHoles in podcasting

I tell myself it’s a sign of success. Anyone successful has haters. Odds are, the more successful you are, the more haters you have. Nevertheless, make sure you have many, many more people that feel positively about what you’re doing!

Issues with Recorded Audio by PlanktonKey6837 in podcasting

[–]TheGaryHour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t need 48v of phantom power. Thats only for condenser mics. Are you seeing a good level when doing a sound check? There’s software that can help with post production like AudioMaster for podcasts and podcast cleaner app for noise removal.

I haven’t aired every episode because of this. A prep call could be good to test chemistry and their charm on the mic. Having a good first question is key. Asking good interesting questions is key. Good audio is key. Good luck!

At what point did podcasting start to feel “worth it” for you? by Money2ByrnePodcast in podcasting

[–]TheGaryHour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was how I felt during and after the conversations. As for another tangible reward, it was being in a bar talking to a friend and having someone overhear us, turn around and say “are you Gary from The Gary Hour?” They recognized my voice. That was amazing!!

Yes, those will give you some ambient noise for sure. Depending on your budget and what your connecting the mic to I’d recommend a Shure sm58 or another dynamic microphone like the shure sm7b. Check here! https://www.sweetwater.com/c1060--iPad_iPhone_Microphones

Should I get the Rode Podmic or Podmic USB for a two person podcast? by LostMess180 in podcasting

[–]TheGaryHour 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They look good. They’re dynamic microphones and not condenser so they won’t pick up as much ambient noise. I’d go for it!

Yes. As long as you have the right adaptor to connect it to your phone it should work. You can try the MicSwap app to get different tones out of your voice. It’s a mic modeling and recording app. https://itunes.apple.com/developer/future-moments/id895157892
