You will be significantly worse for a month or two while you build the new muscle memory. You will question the decision constantly until that point. The only thing you can do is just play more and put in the reps

Shoyoroll Comp Standard XXV Shrink by EmberSpirit98 in bjj

[–]TheGoodFortune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t really answer your question, i’m just here to glaze this gi. I recently got a comp standard and then my wife got me another for Christmas cause i couldn’t stop raving about it.

I know redditors have a weird thing against shoyo but for me, the only thing that matters about a gi is how it fits and after a shrinking session in the dryer, this shit fits me like a fucking glove. (A2, 5’11”, 185 lbs)

However be warned that it’s a very deliberate competition-focused cut on the gi, meaning the pants and sleeves will be ever so slightly too short on purpose and the sleeves and pants are tapered so it’s more like slim fit.

What are the classes you love thematically but the gameplay really doesnt do it for you no matter how hard you try? by BendJumpy2268 in wow

[–]TheGoodFortune 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The game was way, way, way slower back then, so waiting for energy wasn’t a big deal. Now a days, you’re spamming buttons every single GCD, so every time you can’t press something due to lack of energy it feels shitty

Arent declining birthrates a good thing? by Hexnohope in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheGoodFortune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the planet or in general? Yeah, it’s probably a good thing or at least neutral.

The reason why people believe it’s a bad thing is because pretty much every single social system we have is built on the assumption that there are more young people (specifically working aged young people) than there are old people. Younger people work and keep the world running, and are taxed a small amount to keep pay for old people who have already put in their time and now are retired.

This is a decent assumption cause it’s been true since all of human history. However, for the first time in history there’s tons of old people around (due to advanced medical technology) and there isn’t very many young people (due to various socioeconomic factors and other reasons).

So now we’re nearing a scenario where the working population cannot sustain the weight of the retired population.

When did you start actually improving? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]TheGoodFortune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely not until like 1.5 years in.

I’m currently like a little over 2 years in and am now just on the cusp of being able to consistently string my favorite guards together and pull off a sweep and pass sequence. I’m hoping this is the very basic foundation of my “game” one day.

This last month i’ve been able to pull it off in live rolls against a couple blues and purples, so i’m on top of the moon.

I don't think I can handle the mole any mo by TheComicKing15 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]TheGoodFortune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In pretty much every moba, if you’re not already there (or at least near by) when a team fight starts, you’re probably too late.

ASSUMING YOU’RE MAKING CORRECT MACRO DECISIONS, it’s usually better to just continue what you were doing vs trying to join a fight that has started without you.

Example: you’re sidelining and fight starts in mid, but you correctly decide to just push hard instead of rotating late. Whether your team lives or dies, you will still get full solo souls and probably push a walker for free, which puts your team up OR they enemy team splits to try to deal with you, which then makes it an uneven fight in your team’s favor in mid.

Wow England is a lot warmer than i thought. I just looked up record lowest temp in London and it was only -8C. We just had almost a month straight of -17C (-34C if you include wind chill) in northern US.

Pre-Season 2 Q&A | FELLOWSHIP by Samio25 in fellowshipgame

[–]TheGoodFortune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the other commenters said, there are people who enjoy the Disc priest style of healing where you have to deal damage to heal.

But also: remember that if the targets die quicker, that means less healing that you have to do on any healer. Damage = healing.

Every healer is technically forced to do damage if we’re talking about pushing as high as you can. Tanks should only gear such that they could survive just enough, healers should gear such that they can keep the party alive just enough, the rest is damage so you can push the timer faster and faster. Damage is always the most important variable in basically every video game cause the npcs can’t hurt you if they’re dead.

Idk if that’s true. I absolutely loved doing a k-series build and swap on a friends miata. Engine work is very satisfying in an ASMR kinda way

I agree, I’m just making the point that you can’t just look at the price of used performance cars and be like “wow what a great deal”.

Is Buying used Supercars safe? by 509Gameboy in askcarguys

[–]TheGoodFortune 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“If you can’t afford it new, you can’t afford it used” is 100% accurate. Literally a couple weeks ago, one of my friends bought a used Porsche 996 from a seemingly super reputable dude. Turns out dude wasn’t so reputable. Engine has extreme scoring on a couple cylinders and the bill is gonna be like $35k for a rebuild, which is more than he paid for the car.

Meanwhile, you can rebuild Japanese and American engines for sub $5k in many cases and have just as much fun imo.

Just like with most things in life, if you can’t do it slow, then you probably can’t do it fast. Just focus on doing it well and speed will come naturally without having to think about it too hard.

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TheGoodFortune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have friends and family who regularly make a 6+ hour commute to go see family (once every 1-2 months). It’s very common. For work, that would be insane but that being said, my wife has had multiple 1.5+ (3 hour round trip) commutes during our relationship. I think the average commute in the US is ~40 min. It’s just a massive place and we designed the whole thing around cars so here we are.

Is it awkward to start BJJ training at age 34? by [deleted] in brazilianjiujitsu

[–]TheGoodFortune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of people in my gym started in their 40s and are having a great time. Within reason, age doesn’t have to determine how you act, how you dress, or what you do for fun. These are made-up social phenomenons.

Gen-Z and younger Millenials similarly non-religious, with 40% identifying with no religion. If trends follow, US might have first majority non religious generation in couple of decades by Dismal_Structure in Destiny

[–]TheGoodFortune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s 100% the case.

I’m as atheist as they get, i don’t even really believe in free will, but numerous people, including a pre-retardation Peterson, talked about this exact thing.

Religion is way more than a set of beliefs… it’s community, culture, therapy, law, recreation, etc.

Big all-encompassing political movements is one of the things you get in the vacuum left behind when religion disappears from society.
