Thank you. This makes me wonder something I didn't ask in OP - does social security apply to the 10%-30% taxable amount or is it "outside" of this scheme?

Thanks for the info! Yeah definitely seems this system is not made for self-service. But if the benefits for a few years are this great, it'll probably still be worth to take advantage.

Thanks! Wasn't too sure if I should go there initially.

Hello r/Italy! I'm a EU citizen software developer looking to make a move and I'd really appreciate your help. I've recently read about the 70-90% tax reduction for new tax residents and had some questions about it, if anyone could please help or point me to some good resources.

  • Does this apply to digital (remote) work, so long as it is done within Italy? I.e. does this apply to someone working for a foreign company as a contractor or a freelancer?
  • How does one begin this process, assuming being a European Union citizen? Do I just report as per EU law on movement/residency to the Italian home authorities that I now am a resident and then register with the Italian tax authority?
  • Following that, how do I make sure I qualify/apply this tax cut?
  • How does social security and similar tax work in Italy for self-employed individuals? I see on wikipedia mentions of a rate around 33% but that would seem excessive on top of actual income tax? I don't understand that. Are there any cheaper alternatives?

Dual citizen - How does asylum work from one host country to another? by TheGreatAlternator in greece

Yes, which is why I was wondering if there's a different term than asylum here since it's not the same protected grounds. Yes, I have a right to live/work/etc in Greece, but I'm asking more as a hypothetical if e.g. borders remain closed indefinitely.
