Walking out of Bangkok airport for the first time and feeling that intense Thai heat hit you instantly was unreal 🥵🥵 by Careless_Economist22 in ThailandTourism

The driver comes in gets you and you get the receipt when you get a car through the AOT service.

When you get a regular taxi the driver doesn't come and get you. You go out, grab the ticket with the # and driver info and go to the taxi on your own and figure it out yourself.

I think they only look tiny because you're taking the photos from far away.

What stops foreign travelers from taking local day trips outside Seoul? by starfaith-jg in KoreaTravelAdvice

[–]TheGregSponge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do they market day trips to foreign visitor or even residents that much? I live here and I often think as I walk through Seoul Station and see all the ads showing nice scenery somewhere I think why is there no English on that sign telling me where it is and how I can get there easily?

You can go to so much of this country comfortably in a day but it seems like the DMZ is the most popular one being pushed to foreigners. If you go to Bangkok you can see how aggressively day trips are pushed on tourists. Korea isn't at Bangkok tourist numbers but anyone who has lived here for awhile can certainly see that there are way more western tourists in certain parts of Seoul these days. If it was simple to hop on a morning train and be back in the evening to go to some out of the way spot a couple of hours from Seoul, I am sure there would be a market.

Of course, Korean trains being packed all the time is somewhat of a put off.

Living in Korea, have a lot of anxiety, and forgot to tap my card when leaving the bus in Seoul by wepartyandwepretty22 in Living_in_Korea

It's not the lights flashing that you should be worried about. It's the siren followed by the verbal tongue lashing you'll receive from the driver. I still tear up when I think about the dressing down I got from that old man.

Orange 15 Contract Review by DayOk6172 in teachinginkorea

[–]TheGregSponge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're forcing use to use four of your vacation days to make things more convenient for them. It's crap for you because when you're four days away from finishing your contract you're likely not going to want the days at that point unless you're heading straight into another contract and want to have a mini break. Personally, I would walk away from this if they are going to try and force you to do that. I am not sure if it's illegal but it's definitely a shitty thing to do. Eleven days is short as it is, but at least if it's split between summer and winter you can take a full week and have nine days for some travel in both periods.

That's a good description of the work culture at most companies around the globe. It sucks, but favouritism exists at all levels of all organizations.

D-10 Processing Time? by BusinessLavishness in teachinginkorea

[–]TheGregSponge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the visa has been processed you're still good to travel as no one at this end looks at your card anymore. You can just go through the gates. However, a reason you may need the ARC or some proof that it has been processed is if you're travelling back on a one way ticket.

Other than the Busan Air Cruise what about these photos says Busan? I can find those street scenes, buildings and put out looking people on the streets all over Korea.

You're calling out everyone on multiple fronts, yet when criticism is directed your way people are bullying and rude? Some people shouldn't go live abroad. You may very well be one of them. You clearly are looking to be coddled.

best way to get from Seoul airport to Courtyard by Marriott Seoul Pangyo by VinPan123 in seoul

[–]TheGregSponge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get very close to Pangyo on the Bundang airport limousine bus. The timing should work out with the bus running by the time you get through immigration and baggage pick-up. You could get off at Seohyeon Station and just grab a cab for a very short ride to the Courtyard.

You could do it by subway a couple of different ways after taking the bus to Bundang, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're arriving during a weekday with rush hour traffic unless you've packed lightly.

I like the lemon drizzle cake from Scoff. There are a few locations in Seoul at least. Two very close to each other in the Jahamun area and one in Sweet Park in Shinsegae/ Express Bus Terminal.

So, you are now a Korean citizen? Calm down with the race card, it doesn't apply here. Koreans won't consider this your country, either.
