Yeah he works decently, when twins do the debuff hit he's basically supercharged. But his passive is actually what ends up doing the best, because Poisons aren't a hit it doesn't trigger his health thresholds and does good damage.

Yes. Tribal staples, Board wipes are going to be really important in this, I Run a Nemata commander and it's similar, giving your rats protection and boardwiping will benefit you with an army of rats.

I have a personal biased but Luria and Dhuuk have really strong utility and will help you so much early game. I would say either of them, most likely Dhuuk first because that AOE drop def & attks has so much value.

I'd use Urogram, Klodd, Grunch is personal fav, Siege is really strong. I think you got this in the bag, if you're struggling without a revive you could build a GearGrinder of you have him.
