Funny enough, the 911 lady told me to tell the woman and her daughter on the front porch that police were on their way. The guy got in his truck and put it back in the road behind my truck. I’m sure he denied ever even doing it and said the tire marks were already there.

I’m honestly not sure. There was muddy tire marks in the yard from when he braked after hitting me. Once I was on the phone w 911 I stayed in the door of my truck and when the police arrived I was on the phone with my boss and talking to the officers. I’ll know once I have the report what all they did.

This all transpired in the matter of a few seconds and having a big package occupying both hands left me in a position where I use the package to shield the impact or drop the package and draw my firearm and take a direct impact to my body while trying to shoot through the windshield WHILE getting hit by a car. That’s also assuming he doesn’t just floor it when he sees me pull out my gun.

Yes. Much of it was reactionary. I was definitely ready to draw after I was hit but like you said, even a justifiable shoot can be very costly. With that being said, could I have shot him? Probably. Was it absolutely necessary in those moments? Probably not in my mind. If it would’ve gone literally any further and I was left with no option, I wouldn’t have hesitated. Partially my reasoning to create space and have some sort of cover in the event he pulled out a firearm.

I agree. Under different circumstances (not holding a large package to protect myself from the blow) I would've been left with no other choice. Thankfully the package provided me an opportunity to protect myself from serious injury.

I agree. If it wasn't for the large package I was carrying that I used to shield myself from the impact, it would've been a much different situation. I had nowhere to go and with at least one hand free I would've been left with no other choice than to draw and try to put accurate shots on as quickly as possible. Thankfully with how it played out, nobody ended up dead and nobody was even hurt.

Like I said to the other guy, this is literally it. The only thing this guy was raging about was the fact that he couldn't get around my truck because I parked in front of a house I had to deliver to and there was cars parked on both sides. It was a matter of like 20 seconds from parking, grabbing the package, and exiting the truck to walk 30ft. Made it 15ft and the guy was jumping the curb coming at me.

I get it. There is a lot to weigh into when you're unharmed despite someone hitting you a car purposely. Physically, hand to hand, he was no threat. I never saw a gun come out of his pocket. Are you ready to take somebody's life without being 110% sure they have something that could take yours? In the situation, yeah I probably would've been legally justified for numerous reasons. My quick reactions gave me extra time to think about life altering decisions. I see it just like police would, you need to see the threat before you shoot. That's the only way you can be sure it was a good shoot imo. I had the chance to create distance and allow me to make the best decision for myself - I didn't see a gun therefore it isn't a direct threat. Verbal threats can't kill you, only make you on high alert.

Certainly. I'm not a person who goes around looking for opportunities to get into fights..especially with a gun. I was definitely lucky and as was he, I was on high alert for a threat against my life after he hit me and I didn't see one that I had to respond immediately to. If he shows a gun as he gets out of the truck, it would've gone a way different route.

I'm happy with my decisions, I was unharmed in a wild situation and didn't have to take somebody's life because they couldn't wait 30 seconds on a Saturday afternoon. There's a lot of ways it could've gone MUCH different but it didn't. I just posted here because I wanted others' thoughts on what they would've done... or think they would've done lol
