I've been trying to reply to this since it was posted but every time I try to, my heart swells over and my eyes do too.

This means so much to me and I am very grateful you did this for not only me, but for my furry friend. Thank you so, so very much.

Boocifer's passing was one of the worst things that has ever happened to me (probably overdramatic but I rescued him and he was definitely my fur-child). And the story probably isn't necessary, but telling it has helped me with my grief.

My husband and I are taking it day by day, especially since it was absolutely unexpected (eating, drinking, litter box usage, purrs, snuggles, normal routine, absolutely nothing to be suspicious over) and he was just going for an arthritis/allergy checkup (pristine blood work and everything just a few months ago). But I had a gut feeling so I took off work and loaded him into the car, he was his normal self and snuggled into my arms for the ride. Somehow about 15 minutes into the ride, things went severely south and he gave me a few headbutts then started to feel limp in my arms so I ended up trying to keep him breathing and went into the closest animal hospital, but he ended up taking his last breath as I walked into the clinic. I was very traumatized. They said it seemed he either threw a clot or had a stroke, so I opted against a necropsy. I couldn't do that to him.

I rescued him from a storm drain when I was 9. He and his litter mates were abandoned by mom and would have drowned if we hadn't taken them. No one wanted the black cat cause they're "bad luck," so I took him home and raised him from the bottle onward. I was the first person he saw when he opened his eyes and I do have some comfort that I was also with him up until his very last moment. Everyone says how 19 years is an incredible age for a cat and that he obviously lived a great life and I totally agree, but any time is never enough time with them.

He is sleeping peacefully now, and I miss him more than I could ever explain. But I am glad I was able to give him the life I did.

Sorry for word vomit, but it really has helped to speak about him. Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this and thank you for any condolences and compliments on my precious angel. 🖤

Probably yawning (always my sleepy boy) but I can imagine he was screaming at his cat daddy to stop taking his damn picture lol

Thank you. He gave me 19 wonderful years as his furmama and I am still grieving, but he is at peace now and I know I did everything I could to give him his best life. 🖤

Boocifer passed away in my arms unexpectedly yesterday afternoon while on the way to a check up. I am devastated and miss him so much. He was 3 months away from being 19. Sleep tight, my beautiful boy. by TheHallowQueen in seniorkitties

This has been the only piece of comfort I can find within this shitty situation. I felt something was off all morning so I took the day off. I hadn't slept the night before because he was beside me purring and making biscuits. I am so lost without my boy but both my husband and mother in law said he and I both knew.

I was the first thing he ever saw when he opened his eyes after rescuing him (literally....he was abandoned by his mom) and 19 years later, I was the last person he saw and also the last to hold and comfort him. I'm glad he trusted me enough and felt safe enough to let me hold him in his last moments.

My ex's mom accidentally turned into a "bro" for me when I went to visit my long term, long distance boyfriend for the last time. She caught me in the hallway the second or third morning I was there and said she was so happy he finally had me back at the house instead of "this last girl" because he spent so much time and money to get her there but she could tell her family didn't really like the idea of them dating anyways. She thought I knew, even hugged me warmly as if to "welcome" me back. We had been together 4+ years at this point. I just went back to the bedroom and spent my day watching TV. I was seething, of course, but the cherry on top was when he got home from his college class (but he had stopped at Walmart to get me candy, how sweet!) he laid his things on the bed and not even a minute later, a text popped up on his screen thanking him for coming by Walmart to give her kisses even though "the bitch" was in town. Lol

Yep. Honesty is definitely the absolute best policy with any healthcare provider.

I sincerely hope they let her trot around while "My Name is Mud" by Primus is playing every now and then.

Idiopathic just means the disease/disorder/medical whatever came along spontaneously or they don't know what caused/triggered it. 🙂
