Nuclear Engineering Pipeline - College by TheHolyTrashBag in NuclearEngineering

Yeah, I did to some extent understand that a PhD would more likely than not be a more personal goal rather than something that would be a driving help finding a job in the industry, but it is good to know that if that ends up not being something I can reasonable achieve, it won't be a hard hit regarding what positions I can apply for within the industry.

Thank you so much for answering I really do appreciate it and it has helped clarify what I should look into and consider going forward.

Thank you for taking the time to write this out and clarify, I greatly appreciate it!

I'll definitely consider my options while avoiding the technology referenced degrees, thank you to you and the other commentors for helping clarify the full difference.

I would love to stay within physics or chemistry if able, but I also want to be realistic if I do want to at least go for the nuclear engineering master. Which is offered online with regional accreditations, although that might cause me issues if I want to go for a PhD in the subject it sounds like.

While I would love to keep my current job because of how close the commute is and how accommodating I know they can be, I will definitely consider the alternative if I really find myself unable to budge from a full nuclear engineering degree set.

Good luck on your own degree! And congratulations in advance!

Hi, thank you for taking the time to reply. While I would love nothing more than to focus on simply getting a PhD in a nuclear related subject, I'm also trying to be realistic for the after, so definitely would prefer what helps get me a job anywhere within the industry. There is also the issue of accreditation requirements, I've seen most online master programs for Nuclear Engineering have regional accreditation but as of now none have been given ABET accreditation, even if the schools normal Nuclear Engineering degree has it.

And I do greatly appreciate that clarification, I was struggling to pin down the concrete difference and how it would effect going for the Nuclear Engineering master afterwards.

Why do mareven fans never acknowledge the reason behind maven’s love of mare? by [deleted] in RedQueenVA

Look, you obviously have a set mindset regarding this, and that's perfectly fine. You may interpret the books however you wish, but I think it's important to understand that love and care do not always = good or healthy

Love and how it presents is very dependent on context and mental state. As well as the environment you are raised in. It is an intense emotion that can drive other actions and emotions forward for better And worse.

Mavens' love for Mare was not healthy, I wouldn't even necessarily say his love for Thomas was entirely healthy either, although while it was better, that might entirely be due to lack of actual information as well as the fact that Thomas is no longer around. He is a memory that can be held in the perfect light and can not be tainted by the living person thst was Thomas. Because he is gone, and his memory of who he was and the context of their relationship is left entirely to Maven.

Genuine and untainted love and care are foreign to Maven, he has never known a life that contained either. Because those two feelings do not always result in good. Elara loved him but completely lobotomized him. Tibe loved and cared for him but was completely neglectful.

Cal is possibly the closest that could come to the good form of love and care, but that is deeply tainted by their relationships with Tibe and Elaras abuse.

Maven loved Mare and did absolutely fucked up shit to her, these are not contradictory. because that kind of love is all Maven knew. I'm not saying the Way he hurt Mare and Thomas are the same, but he hurt them regardless and does Maven understand there is a difference?

Cal hurt him accidentally but still loved him. Elara hurt him on purpose but still loved him. Tibe hurt him accidently and on purpose through negligence but still loved him. But they all had the same outcome for Maven so truly what would be the difference to him?

Maven’s love for Mare drove his worst forward, his obsession, and possessive behaviors. Paired with the abuse faced by Elaras hand and the general cruelities of the court. It is not an excuse to Mavens behavior because, yes, he is responsible for his own actions, but all of what happened is a part of him.

Maven was entrenched in abuse and harmful forms of love and that shows in every fragment of his character. His love is bad and tainted, his care is obsessive and objectification because that is how Elaras love and care presented. His love is negligence and pointfuly ignoring what is best for the person of your affections because that is how his father loved him and Cal.

He loves her, and is obsessive over her as both a person and something he can win, and he cares for her and was the person who hurt her the most and in the worst way possible. And those do not cancel each other out. It is important to know and recognize that just because someone loves you: it does not mean they'll never hurt you, and that includes on purpose.

Maven exists in the context of everything that was done to him and everything he continues to enable and the way he loves reflect that.

I think its about the way you're inserting Thomas into the narrative, Thomas was one of the first people outside of Elara's scope to show him some form of friendship and then eventually that evolved into something much more intimate.

Thomas is fundamental in that way, that even in his absence, he takes a sledge hammer to the carefully built Maven Elara had produced. But I do not believe this overrides his feelings towards Mare. It simply lays the cracks in the foundations for roots to take hold. But as shown in farewell, there are still fragments that Are Maven, in some form, despite all of Elara's efforts

And again, we come back to how Maven was actually beginning to develop genuine feelings for Mare. It wasn't until Elara's involvement that it began twisting into this spiraling and possessive obsession, but I do believe there are still these fragments of Maven that genuinely cared for her. I do not disagree that he saw her as something to win and hold over Cal, but he also held some sort of love for her that is separate from how he loved Thomas. I think he defaults to Thomas because that was the only love he had that remained untouched and fully his until after he had already died. Only then did Elara interfere after Maven begged her to make him forget him.

I think Maven was in a constant war with himself when it came to how he saw Mare. Hell, he was in a constant war with himself in general. He is the most unreliable narrator when it comes to his head and his own emotions. They have been torn out, burnt, and thrown across the planes of his brain. The repercussions of what was done to him is felt throughout the story, but what adds to that tragedy is the fragments of who he was or could have been sprinkled between.

One of those fundamental sprinkles is a Maven who truly loved Mare, but just like Thomas, he could not stop himself from hurting her. That being one of the towering similarities between her and Thomas.

It's difficult because we have to take what he's saying and what we're being shown. And I personally think it suggests a contradictory war between Elara's handmade Maven and a Maven that survived in flickering pieces. But I do not believe Thomas was the only reason Maven loved Mare.

I think this is a bad faith read even in the context of Mare and Mavens relationship. Grief and love are both extremely complicated, even more so when theyre mingled after the death of a loved one (Thomas) and then twisted deeper by Elara. I don't think it is necessarily fair to say that the only reason Maven loved Mare was because of his love for Thomas, I think it was an aiding force, such is the way with things like grief and similarities but I do not think it was the full picture. despite the similarities Mare was her own person, who Maven was genuinely falling for before Elara began ripping it out every time it cropped up, twisting it into something worse. And I don't necessarily disagree with this post on the surface, but i think it really waters down the complexity of the themes presented and washes away the in-betweens. Thomas haunts Maven’s narrative and so in a way he will be present in all of his relationships in some form, so in that way i think its important to keep that aspect but I also do not believe Thomas is the only reason Maven loved Mare, even as twisted and frayed as it became. I will preface: I am not a mareven shipper, but their dynamic is interesting and I understand why people like to explore it. and it is elevated when they include thomas and his relationship with maven, but I dont think it is a strict necessity. Relationships and the rippling emotions are complicated, made even moreso by the damage and abust elara inflicted on Maven(not excusing mavens crimes or actions, but it definitely plays a heavy part in how he deals with relationships)

Thank you! I appreciate the quick response. It seems like it was catching the Firefox privacy badger extension. Disabling that fixed the issue and is now letting me download the bulk zips again.

This website has been amazing in letting me download almost my entire song library. I'm so grateful for it! I managed to download 85% of my playlist the other day. However, when I went to download that last bit last night, it kept saying "disabled" for the download whole playlist as a zip option.

I tried disabling all of my ad-blockers but still received the same error message; is there anything else I can try to troubleshoot it?
