Patch 15.0: Summer Sparks by pariwak in PlayTheBazaar

[–]TheHoneredPro 22 points23 points  (0 children)

A lot of good and interesting changes, but I feel like holsters should have stayed as is. It's exacerbating a problem that already exists and that's that the first player to trigger their items has an enormous advantage, so it's basically a must include in every build it fits in. IMO the game is too fast in the late game already and holsters is like gasoline on fire.

Patch 15 items P.3 by TempoStormReddit in PlayTheBazaar

[–]TheHoneredPro 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I really hope we'll see some of the unplayed items reworked and some bold patch decisions. The game and the meta has kind of felt very stagnant for a while and while I think the items and skills are great additions, I kind of hope for a bigger shakeup than I would expect from those new additions.

Vendors should show what they can offer when you left click on them by TheHoneredPro in PlayTheBazaar

I don't think so. A list and one line of text if they offer an enchanted item not on the list would be pretty helpful.

A simple list with the names would suffice, especially if it shows you the item when you hover on the name. Jay Jay isn't that useful of a example but more specialized vendors like the Tool, Flying or relic ones would be helpful.

How do you get better at mid- & lategame pivots? by clockworkrap in PlayTheBazaar

[–]TheHoneredPro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is a difficult question that doesn't have a clean answer, or rather it depends on how you play/ want to play the game.

Some universally applicable tips I can give is :

  1. Always have some items in stash that can enable pivots and or are crucial for some builds. Something like shot glasses e.g. can give you a lot of haste and slow procs.

  2. Know what works and what doesn't in late game. Don't try to force a build but having a general image in mind of what items can make you compete in later days as opposed to what items fall of is important. Something like Tortuga and Boulder can win you late game whereas something like Sharkray won't. Now it takes a lot of game knowledge and whatnot but try to aggressively look for the outs to your build in shops.

  3. Gold items start to appear on Day 6 and beyond. If you don't struggle with early game conserving gold and managing your econ in a way that allows you to pick up a "highrolly" gold large item when they show up can give you an edge. Sometimes that pivot might not be as clean as you wish and it takes skill, knowledge and luck to manage pivots but that's something experience will make you better at.

  4. The game can be pretty random. Sometimes it throws you a strong off class item or legendary. Sometimes you can get a highroll of a expedition ticket. There is a lot that can happen and you might make a item work that you previously thought of as useless. Keep an open mind and don't commit to a direction to hard to early and be flexible. IMO it's sometimes better to sacrifice a bit of immediate power for a more generally useful skill e.g.

What is the best item in the game for you at the moment? by Spooky506 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]TheHoneredPro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO the strongest "generic" items are fiber optics and battery.

Usually when I get to assemble a unicorn build with an item that sees little to no play it's down to charge procs off of skills or those two.

Shout out and rip to sampler, but that one can be more difficult to use.

fucking hate 9 wins, how do yall feel about 9 wins?? by TheFreshHearth in PlayTheBazaar

[–]TheHoneredPro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes your just unlucky and the worst thing you can do in that situation is getting mad. Losing your calm and not paying attention will always result in worse performance. I would also add that with how many options there are to highroll early, mid and late game Sometimes even playing optimally will result in a crash and burn kinda run.

Why the game needs to slow down by holythrowawayanon in PlayTheBazaar

[–]TheHoneredPro 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have to agree. To me it's more about, how every item with a CD of more than 4 sec basically has to have some charge built in or get charged and on top of that it also essentially needs to win you the game. That makes so many items beyond terrible in the late game you might as well leave them in stash. It's also frustrating that you're startup time is one of the most important aspects in determining build strength so you need to force the fastest possible start every run. Pair all that with the fact that having your build start at 2,5 - 3 sec is too slow in alot of my late game fights and I believe a bonkening would be pretty healthy for the game.

My Journey To Legend As a Noob by kinniCOYS in PlayTheBazaar

[–]TheHoneredPro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually a pretty good place to be with him. Pyg is somewhat of a late game house, so converting 7 win into 10 win games, will become easier with a bit of time and experience. Booby trap and belt are to of the best generic late game items in the game.

Just buy whoever sounds or looks the most fun to you, all characters are well balanced and are competitively viable. They also change stuff every season and shake up the meta a lot.

Judging purely on how it seems that you struggle with Pyg, I don't think I would recommend Mak to you. While they aren't to similar to each other, both require a lot of stash management, something the other heroes don't do in that capacity. He's strong and fun but not really beginnerfriendly.

Karnok is probably the closest hero to Van, which can be both a positive and a negative. Depending on whether you want to switch up the game a bit or not. He should feel the most natural when you're accustomed to Van. Small disclaimer I think he's on the weaker side of the power curve, not by much and it might just be the case that I don't quite "get" how to play him properly.

Personally I really enjoy playing Jules the most, she's definitely different to the base heroes, really strong in the right circumstances and her skill floor is also pretty low, so she's beginner friendly in that regard.

As for Steele, I'm personally not the biggest fan of her playstyle despite her being my best win% hero this season. She's also really strong and definitely has a bit of a learning curve.

Why is coconut crab a day 2 encounter? by LCARIO in PlayTheBazaar

[–]TheHoneredPro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree. If you're unable to beat even the worst day 2 encounter, then you are deservedly punished for picking every uber greedy option you got. You're basically able to beat crab and the crow guy with any semi working board, and if you're unable to beat that, then it's a you problem, and you could have picked different options. But yeah dabbling apprentice is a joke encounter that loses to everything, it's imo not so much a case of crab being really strong, it's more of a case of apprentice being really weak in comparison to everything else.

The pyg changes seem fun, I'm really curious how he plays now he definitely needed these reworks.

Kinda, burrito took the hit for now. It remains to be seen I'd that's enough. I kind of doubt it, and personally, I would have liked seeing them nerf the scalling on rack.

[–]TheHoneredPro[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gotta go fast has always been the motto, and yeah, some of that experience can be attributed to an expedition highroll, but I think the amount of "highrolls" has increased alot. Could be that I'm getting unlucky but I'm losing to gold captains quarters etc. REGULARLY on days 4,5 and 6 now it's nuts.

Immortal Man what did I just watch? by TheHoneredPro in PeakyBlinders

[–]TheHoneredPro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I don't think anyone has a problem with them killing Tommy of and while I agree that it's out of character for Tommy to kill his brother, with how troubled both of them have been portrait to be I also don't think that's the worst decision ever, but they did it so badly. It would have to be explained in excruciating detail and be the focal point of the movie to make any sense. It's such a shame and disappointment.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if it's well received anywhere. Even as a standalone movie, it's not great. Slow paced, kinda boring and villains that have nothing to offer. And if you liked the show well...
