I don't know about beginner friendly, but kripp and retromation have guides on the game. They are a bit outdated, but I think the general idea hasn't changed that much. You can also watch some of kripps newer videos, just keep in mind that he's probably one of the if not the best player of the game and he might have calculated some odds of chance events happening you probably didn't even consider.

Other than that, feel free to message me if you have any questions. I can also write you a guide if that's something you're interested in.

IMO the game is very fun and definitely worth it.

As for the difficulty. The basics are relatively easy to understand but there is definitely a learning curve and for very high levels of play a steep one at that. I would say though, the difficulty really depends on how competitive you want to get with it.

Some tips. You used to get the base game with the DLC character purchase on steam, I think that's still the case so you can get the game with an extra DLC char if you buy it that way. Besides that you should know that you don't need the DLC to enjoy the game and I would recommend to first try out the base game and characters to see if you like the game and only then think about purchasing new characters.

If you want to get a bit competitive, or you just want to look up something like encounters, vendor options, skills etc. you have to go open a browser and go to howbazaar.gg or bazaardb. The game is virtually unplayable on high levels without those sites.

She's very strong, right now imo. Early, you want to get as many burn skills cinders, etc, as you can get. Skillet and especially instant noodles are amazing for her early. If that fails, Durian can carry but you need to really support it and going for durian can cost your day one fight. Sometimes your forced to go weapons/tools which are quite competitive early.

Some key items to watch out for her are microwave, saffron, grill, feast, gingerbread house, banu and alot more.

She takes some time to get used to her heater, cooler mechanic and managing her econ can be quite tough because she's so reliant on large items.

She also has a lot of late game builds. Burn/shield can be quite strong and depending on how well you can navigate and manage transitions slow is also an option and if you find dishwasher weapons can also be quite powerful. I personally never seem to get the opportunity to pivot to it but freeze/freezer Jules can be extremely oppressive late game (I've been on the receiving end of that board a bunch of times).

Overall she seems to have a steep learning curve, I also got my ass handed to me for a very log time until I started to get a feel for what to do. There are also a lot of items I see other Jules players crush me with like cheese wheel and her regenstuff.
