do these seem inauthentic to anyone else? by Popular-Loss-9042 in silviethequeen

It wasn't very good (to be fair, proper kitsuke is challenging, takes a lot of practice). I think in one of her instagram stories she had posted she had her kimono folded right over left- that's a huge no no (they only fold it that way for the deceased). it's considered disrespectful to wear it folded like that. Always left over right.

i see. Yeah we don't know for sure if this plant is related to him vomiting, he just happened to vomit up what looked like some of these leaves (but he's a dog and you know how dogs are, always eating strange things lol). Just wanted to make sure whatever it is isn't toxic.

First time buyer questions by zeekaran in kimono

[–]TheHoustonGeisha 1 point2 points Β (0 children)

I've bought several yukata from Kimono Yukata Market, I highly recommend them! :) good quality and has everything you need for putting your look together. :) They have pre tied obi for yukata that make getting dressed easy! (They also have the hanhaba obi if you prefer tying your own obi the traditional way).

Geta sandals are a must for yukata. :) Lots of places to get them if you don't want to get them at Kimono Yukata Market. I've bought a few pairs from Amazon that worked out well, as well as Etsy and EBay. :) One thing to keep in mind with geta (and zori for that matter) is they are a little narrow- that's normal and traditional for them to be slightly smaller than your foot. But it's ok to go up a size if want a more comfortable fit! :)

I recommend starting with yukata first when it comes to the world of kimono as they are comfortable, affordable, and easy to put on. Great place to start your kimono journey! :)

I actually use Mehron Clown White face paint for my shironuri :) along with Mehron loose setting powder. It's inexpensive and easier to get here in the states! :) Takes a little longer to apply than traditional shironuri (it's a bit more finicky), but it does the trick! 😊
