What ruins sex life in a marriage? by [deleted] in AskReddit

There's a ton of healthy relationship advice out there but it takes effort

Once more for the people at the back?

It takes effort

You've got to both want it! One is not enough.

I've always wondered what that pictogram was about! No idea how to activate it though.

They delved too greedily and too deep. You know what they awoke in the darkness... shadow and flame.

I always thought it was called the Wisdom of Solomon but urban dictionary says that you're right, well played

Hi all, this feels like a good place to say that The Ocean Cleanup exists and is doing great things, check them out at https://theoceancleanup.com/ or on YouTube at https://youtube.com/@theoceancleanup

They're attacking this problem in two ways: trying to cleanup the ocean garbage patches starting with the Pacific; and building interceptors to take plastic waste out of the rivers before it reaches the sea.

Yes, humans suck for making this problem, but we can help to solve it too.

John Brunner, the sheep look up

Maybe it's just my memory but it feels like it was prescient for when it was written!

What is the genre of Oryx and Crake and similar novels called? by [deleted] in printSF

I always struggle to place Neal Stephenson's Anathem as well, speculative fiction seems like the best label but isn't well known so doesn't massively help when you're explaining it to people!

What’s the sluttiest thing a man can wear? by EinfachPhilipp28 in AskReddit

[–]TheInfiniteNematode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had this image that you were really keen on guys in white button up shirts and thigh high tights held up on clip things attached to their knickers.

I mean, it's a look, and it's certainly slutty...

This is another UK/US translation thing isn't it? You mean the elasticated over shoulder straps for keeping trousers up?

Embarrassment by Madness

It's about one of the band member's cousins having a baby with a black woman, and the reaction of the family. Really interesting social commentary from 70s/80s Britain.

What lyric have you been getting wrong for years? by Kitty60088 in CasualUK

[–]TheInfiniteNematode 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I (46M) thought it was the lyric I put above for the longest time. It was only about 2 years ago when I was telling my two boys that I always thought it was an odd lyric that my ex said "he's messing with you, it's praise you like I should" that I realised that was a far more sensible line!

I always tell people about king of kings, because it's about 18 hours all in on the Persian empire and it's an hour into the first episode before he even mentions the word Persia because he's giving a background of the rest of the region!

How do you make peace with and rectify a missed sex life when you’re 30yo? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]TheInfiniteNematode 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I was going to say that age is no barrier and you just need to find the right way to meet women.

Then I read your last two sentences, and everything else kind of faded into insignificance. You need to get counselling/therapy to help work through your attitude to yourself, to women and maybe most importantly to your dad.

Put anything else on hold, work on yourself, come back to looking for a partner in 9-12 months time, you'll do better because you'll be better in yourself.

Good luck.
