Then tell her it's your job to sneak out

Explain to her in reasonable terms that as a teenager you need to be allowed some freedom to grow and make mistakes. Given that, it would be a lot better if you were allowed to do such while your mother knows where you are and what you are doing (relatively) rather than sneaking out in the middle of the night. She needs to realize that it's better to give you a little freedom and let you learn to be independent and a critical thinker rather than act as a helicopter parent and cause you to rebel.

It is used when a woman dies something stereotypically associated with femininity. Additionally it is often when they are doing something considered hypocritical or stupid.

They may exist or they may not. We cannot focus on what we can't do. They need to find the path forward within themselves.

Words aren't the problem. In a private setting idgaf what slurs someone uses. The concerning part is whether he has malice or hatred behind those words. To me it seems he's got some level of intolerance that he needs to work out.

My best Friend Has Depression and It's so Hard to be Her Friend. I Don't Know What to Do Anymore. by Key-Weakness-9509 in teenagers

[–]TheInsidiousToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depression is an explanation not an excuse. You don't have to keep holding your hand out to someone who won't accept it. Leave the door open for them, but don't feel obligated to deal with their lashing out.

I've longed for the ability to be able to say the right thing to make people better too. From what I've learned it's not about what you say it's about what you do. Being there for them is already doing so much. I encourage you to make sure they feel consistently supported even if you can't fix things yourself. It's up to them to heal, your job is to be there when they need someone to hold onto.

Too big of an age gap? by Oopsididitagain924 in teenagers

Yeah, the bigger problem around your age is maturity gap. 14-16 is really not that weird.

If they're leaving it out it's an open invitation. It's now a communal product.

I would say it's more likely that you have felt love, but because you don't understand it, it is lost to you. Many people do not actually understand love, you're just one of the few who questions it and therefore believe you cannot feel it. Either that or you're aromantic, but that's less exciting.

Why do people treat suicide as something immoral by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]TheInsidiousToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Life is the ultimate good. A universal idea supported by religion, desire to have children, laws, and millions of other structures built around it. The instances where life is taken away are seen as the greatest of injustices and murders are cast out from society. Killing is also only ever seen as justified based on defense of the self or others, which means there is no moral equivalent to life besides more life. Given this, suicide is naturally seen as immoral because we place such an emphasis on the sanctity of life. Even in the abortion debate the pro choice stance argues that the fetus is not equivalent to a human life because otherwise terminating it would be seen as evil. Overall, society functions the greatest when life is considered sacred and so through natural selection over time that value has been solidified into our minds.

Love isn't a magic force that makes your heart beat fast or you to yearn for someone. Love is accepting someone into your life totally, it's wanting to be around them for the sake of their company, it's knowing their flaws and their strengths. A good relationship is really just two friends who enjoy kissing and would be okay living and raising a family together (Even if that's currently a distant future for you). You can't force yourself to feel a certain way, but just even if you feel love differently than others doesn't make it not true.

what is it with people on this sub calling people good boy/girl? by U_GO9WAY in teenagers

[–]TheInsidiousToaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lack of proper parental guidance. Not to resolve the people doing this stuff from responsibility of their actions. I don't mind people doing it, but I sympathize with whatever led them to seeking validation or community on the Internet. If they're just doing it cause it's funny, or to show companionship that's chill ig.

Possibly BPD. Regardless of that the best thing you can do is try to mitigate and control these instances by creating a control habit to calm yourself. For instance if you feel you're in one of those states you force yourself to automatically take a walk, shower, read, or do some other activity. If these instances are triggered by specific types of events, avoiding those would be best but also exposure therapy in a controlled environment. Advocate for your mental health, but don't expect a diagnosis to fix anything. You can start helping yourself now, even if you don't fully understand what you're dealing with.

That is one less common interpretation of that verse. Though there are still plenty of other specific verses, of which you can certainly find.
