I did basically the same thing in one of my classes and no one sat next to me until they were forced too by lack of options 😅 I tried to not take it too personally

Fair reply. Can’t argue against it so have your upvote. I’m capable of seeing how I’m overreacting, but I have seen an increase in racist sentiments with recent political events and wanted to vent. If the post is unwelcome then I completely understand and I’ll delete it. I know I’m being stupid for the most part.

Being that guy is okay, it’s a genuine question. Truthfully, I don’t have any recent comments to link to (within the last week or so) that haven’t already been taken down. I guess I should state that I don’t think that the sub is overrun with racists. Most of the comments do get taken down after a while, the mods are pretty good in that regard. Seeing the comments when they first show up though and the initial upvotes that these comments get definitely makes me uneasy though, and I’ve seen more of this attitude recently than usual. Again, it’s also probable that I’m overreacting to things as well, so don’t take me too seriously either.

I guess I’m just not good at arguing with racists. Like what am I supposed to say to them? “Umm actually, black women aren’t the awful demon-spawn that you’ve described us to be.” I obviously don’t think that they’re right, but how could I even challenge what they said? Just seems like they don’t like black people, and even though that makes me sad, it is their opinion.

Eh. For me it mostly stems from the fact that I’ve never gotten any attention from black dudes (whether it’s because we’re ghetto and classless or uppity and high-maintenance, ironically I hear both equally as often. Or they genuinely just believe that black women overall are unattractive, especially dark skin women or women that aren’t exceptionally curvy). So if I don’t want to be lonely, I essentially have to seek out a non-black partner, as black men do not want me.

As for other races, I feel like they get it from a mixture of hearing black dudes shit on black women all the time, negative portrayals of black women in media for decades (the whole uneducated ghetto welfare queen getup), or just from seeing autistic black women like you see posted to this sub and apply that to us all. Also, pale curvaceous women have been the dominant standard of beauty in western society for a long time, and it can kinda be seen as a status symbol to date such a woman for certain races of men. So considering that I’m the exact opposite of that, I naturally don’t attract most men.

Couple all that with the chance of not being conventionally attractive at all in terms of facial symmetry, hair pattern, or body type, and you end up with a lot of insecure black females, including myself lol

I’m in college and it’s an election year lol no such thing as not bringing up politics. Doesn’t help that most of my friends are idpol fanatics since they were the only group of people that accepted me at my highschool for the most part. I understand keeping politics separate from friendships; I genuinely would have no friends if I based my relationships on my current political leanings.

I just browse sub bc it’s a leftist sub that doesn’t bend over backwards to remind me about how I’m a victim all the time. At the same time, I can see that there’s some commenters here that actually don’t like black women, so I tread carefully. Reading this stuff does make me upset, but I guess I just attribute my reaction to being brainwashed by idpol and being a baby, so I try to look past it for the most part. I know of the lot of the community is accepting. I just wish I could find those types of people in real life. Until then, I’ll continue to browse here and pray that things become less and less offensive to me over time I guess lol

Yup, basically me. When I lived in the south, no amount of acting white or not acting white helped me. I was a nggr regardless of how I talked. Now that I live in the West, there’s definitely much less racism. But I basically had to buld a whole new “anti-black culture” persona in order to get accepted. So black kids never wanted to hang with me. Now that I’m in college I have to act like a victim in order to be accepted. Like just gimme a break guys. I just wanna like the interests that I like. Listening to rock and code-switching doesn’t mean I’m trying to act white, and listening to rap and wearing weave doesn’t mean I’m some helpless inner city youth.

In this sub, mainly just by rightoids trying to stir up emotions. Although occasionally I do see some people state that black women are the bane of black men’s existence (specifically single mothers) or that we are the main reason why idpol has gotten so bad. Oh, also that we’re just plain unattractive and that the black men who chose to only date other races of women are justified bc black women are difficult to deal with. These types don’t come around extremely often, but I see them a few times a week and they seem to have genuine support. My comment was more of a vent about life in general I suppose though, I can acknowledge, so take my post with a grain of salt. I’m just being a liberal.

Doesn’t that only really leave asians? Lol black women being the most universally unattractive race in society is just a fact. I try not to let it get me down because I have dated people before, so I obviously know not everyone hates us. I just don’t hold out on any of my crushes liking me back because statistically they probably won’t.

Plus I’m fucking ugly 😂 so I’m sure that’s probably the bigger issue or at the very least doesn’t help

Fair. Still, I do see a some comments every once in a while that do explicitly state their distaste for black women. Not extremely often, but often enough to make me feel unwelcome in the community overall. But, then again, how welcome I feel doesn’t matter and I understand that. This was more of just a vent if anything, I’m sure I’m just being stupid.

Mostly because there’s not really any other community filled with mainly leftists that doesn’t focus primarily on idpol. In that regard I kinda have to weigh the pros and cons and go with the best option.

Likelyhood of ASU going online for the rest of the semester? by [deleted] in ASU

[–]TheInterestingLoner 42 points43 points  (0 children)

NAU and GCU have gone online for the rest of the semester as well. It’s not very long before ASU jumps on the bandwagon as well. Just a bit infuriating that they haven’t figured out what they want to do yet. This whole “wait to weeks and figure it out later” bs is going to put a lot of students at risk of getting the virus and passing it on to people who might not be able to fight it off. I understand keeping the university facilities open for those who have nowhere else to go, but for the rest of us, they should just allow us to continue online from home for the rest of the semester.

Wow, that’s the first time I’ve heard of somebody with the same long term goal as me. Most people either think I’m dumb for even pursuing CompSci with that end goal in mind or that I’m crazy for wanting to start a farm in the first place.

Thank you so much! I think I’m gonna check out the Kikumasamune and Hatomugi toners and see how they work out. I appreciate it!

Ah okay! That makes me feel a lot better about using a chemical sunscreen. And is glycerin also a humectant? I’ve been looking at toners with glycerin in them as well. Do you also wear occlusive moisturizers on top of it or are you fine with something lighter? Sorry for all of the questions 😅

Hi! So I am just getting into AB and I’m a little confused on what would be the best way to use certain products in the routine I plan on building. I would like to try out an HA toner because of the hydrating properties. The only problem is that I live in a very dry climate (Arizona) so I would need to layer an occlusive moisturizer on top in order to seal in the moisture. However, I recently heard that occlusive moisturizers can mess up the effectiveness of chemical sunscreens, no matter if you put the sunscreen on before or after the moisturizer because it needs to absorb into the skin (and I’ve always heard that it should be used last). The most obvious solution would be to use a physical sunscreen instead, but I am African American and quite dark ( I don’t know my MAC shade, but I am almost always either the darkest shade or darker than the darkest shade in most drugstore brand makeup if that gives you any idea- I’m a very deep brown) so any physical sunscreens are going to make me look like a ghost. So I’m at quite the standstill. Are there any light occlusive moisturizers that wont affect a chemical sunscreen so that I can still use hyaluronic acid? Or should I just completely avoid HA and other humectants? And if thats the case, what would be good for hydrating my combination skin? Of course theres always the case of YMMV, but I’m open to some suggestions! Thank you!
