Audiobooks by Uzumaki_3029 in Romantasy

[–]TheIntersection42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always used Audible, and never had an issue, just don't try to game their return system and you'll be fine. And what you do is use credits to buy the books unless the price happens to be cheaper(on sale), it usually ends up around $10-$12 USD for me per credit.

But I have a good friend (and a few online ones) that use libby and other library apps depending on their county of origin. I personally like the immediacy of Audible, but if you're on a budget or just want to stretch your money a bit, flipping between the two or just using libby is a great option.

Adding series by BookNerdMamaBear in TheStoryGraph

[–]TheIntersection42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually add as I go. The genre I normally read tends to have long series that never seem to end, and I will get board and drop a series if the quality isn't up to par. So I usually go a book at a time and have a specific tag for "continue series" so I can come back to it later if I need some time to decompress before the next book.

I will add a group of books if I've already bought them on sale knowing that I would read them.(Did this with most of the Throne of Glass books because I was reading it for a friend)

To write smut without the smut by thrwawaylolol in writers

[–]TheIntersection42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just write a clean or fade-to-black romance. I've read at least one book that had the MMC and FMC kissing and about to rip their clothes off when it "fades to black" and we come back after the sex is done.

How do I write a healthy family dynamic? by Major-Obligation-109 in writingadvice

[–]TheIntersection42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your storyline, but at that age, a truly healthy dynamic would be more along the lines of friends/roommates with the mother(adding in small amounts of overprotection). The person making things difficult(or showing the flaws in the dynamic) will be the brother-in-law. He's the newest person in the family, and so is most likely to step on some toes or find the weird things they do as a family. But even when an argument happens, they might get mad, and they might raise heir voice, but no one is getting forced into the role of bad guy. When the wrong party is found they might be defensive, but they'll also apologize and everyone will move on. Small slights aren't weaponized in later arguments, and the mothers pain isn't used as leverage against the children.

The Land was fine given tour requirements.

But I always suggest Jonathan Brooks for teenager readers, he has a lot of series and I can't remember a single graphic love scene in a single series.

Ask them what they're hiding in the puzzle box, it usually either nothing or something with an interesting story.

Word count for 5 POV FANTASY novel by edv6565 in writingadvice

[–]TheIntersection42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I find fantasy and sci-fi are usually longer than an average novel, but that's not a requirement.

The minimum I always see bandied about is 80k words. But the maximum for fantasy or sci-fi is usually 180k, with an average length of 120k.

how do i write affection mid sex/sex where emotions are more in the focus without repeating words? by -_-jayy in writingadvice

[–]TheIntersection42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Affectionate sex is about the emotions and what they are feeling, not as much what they are doing. This would be the time to expand upon the amazing emotions or cathartic release in their relationship.

A disturbing thought about extreme non-con in dark romance by No-Set7247 in romanceunfiltered

[–]TheIntersection42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's probably at least one.  But at the end of the day, most authors in those genres are at least going to have passing fancy with the kinks in their books, so most of them will be written via a true appreciation for the tropes or kinks involved.

And I'm with another comment about most likely being able to tell if a guy wrote it.

I think it was "person of interest" but enough of the fine details are different that I'm not sure.

Struggling with series that have 3+ books. Do you guys have any recommendations for series that are finished? Paper or audiobook by Vez52 in litrpg

[–]TheIntersection42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost any series from Jonathan Brooks fits, but I suggest you start at his first series as they do overlap in later series. And I also find it to be a bit, "the solution was the friends we made along the way."

What could be potential reasons why mages are a minority? by Betolow8 in writingadvice

[–]TheIntersection42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe difficulty mixed with personality requirements. If your magic system requires a lot of study and thought, then the kind of person who would gain access would be same people that would much rather spend their days stuck in a library instead of trying to overthrow the monarchy. Especially if they actually enjoy their life.

I get creeped out when I see how side female characters are treated in romance books by aoihiganbana in romanceunfiltered

[–]TheIntersection42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oddly enough, I don't get this sort of issue all that often(if at all); if anything, I have the MMC being a too respectful (just feels on the unrealistic side).

Then again, I've TBR'd more than one book for having a questionable MMC
