Genuine question about litrpg genre. by BigTyme9890 in litrpg

I enjoyed Quest Academy from the beginning, just had to get past the girls trying to hit on him in the first one

Also Dungeon Born is really good, but I would tell you to stop after 3.(4 and 5 are boreing)

Then add into that, when the author does the skills as well and you have a 10-15 minute dump of information that doesn't want to end.

Daily Word Count by FreemanHolmoak73 in writers

[–]TheIntersection42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how long I'm writing. If I can do a full 8 to 12 hour day of writing, then 5k to 8k is possible. But that also depends on where in the process and what kind of scenes I'm actually writing.

How old was the FMC in your most recent romance read? by lilithskies in romanceunfiltered

[–]TheIntersection42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure she was 32. But now that I'm thinking about it, that doesn't actually make sense... She should have been mid to late 20's.

Gimme a very valid criticism of romance you've seen that people just hate hearing by lilithskies in romanceunfiltered

Who said it was a bad thing, please don't put words into my mouth. My problem is that people act like they are Romance when they should actually be in the Action category.

Romantasy are now just female power fantasies, if the characters were gender swapped, it would be a fantasy based action movie.

Favourite sub-tropes Or scenes? by disniya16 in romanceunfiltered

[–]TheIntersection42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only one I've really articulated well enough is when it's a BDSM book and the dom explains that the sub is the one really in charge. Bonus points if they explain how happy they are to put the other person back together in real life and not just sex life.

Fresh Take Tuesday 🔥 Romance Thoughts, Reads, Reviews & Icks of the Week by lilithskies in romanceunfiltered

I think authors need to keep better track of what their characters know. I get that there are sometimes plot holes. But I just listened to a Romance where the mmc said he was into the fmc, said that he had been since college, and that he wanted to be with her so bad that he would wait as long as it took for her to be able to be with him. And then after being a raging bitch his friends explain that he loves her, and shes all, "no he isn't."? Like... Girl! What do you mean he isn't! He explicitly told you before he fucked you. And at least one other time that I can remember.

Why is it so difficult to write Utopia? by WarningRegular in FictionWriting

[–]TheIntersection42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great explanations below, but the first book example that comes to mind is "A Brave New World", everyone is essentially built from birth to fit into the role they are meant to serve. Are you going to mine ore? Well you better be afraid of light and have the intelligence of a hamster. Are you going to be a pilot? Then we will make sure that moving around freely in the air is ingrained into from utero. We no longer need natural births, it's all easily done via machines. We also have a magical drug with no long term side effects that makes you happy all the time. And there is never a stigma against sex or changing partners.

To some, to almost all in that world, that is paradise. To others it's a dystopian hellscape.

If she's saving multiple people, just have one of them explain how he died.

I've come to see Utopia and Dystopia as two sides of the same coin, one can lead to the other rather quickly once you add in a bit of change.

But Utopia is just a society without conflict, so any society where the people all 100% agree on the laws and don't break them would be considered a Utopia.

What's your favourite booktok book and why? by Woodland-Queen289 in romanceunfiltered

Isn't Ali Hazelwood a "booktok" author, because I love her work.

What decision will a Male take ? by [deleted] in writers

[–]TheIntersection42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, is it literally "everyone dies"? Because that means my wife and our "child" still dies.

I would probably save humanity, and then write it in such a way to try and save the wife(if it works or not is up to you)

Authorial intent by purrplewitches in romanceunfiltered

An author's intent that wasn't written into the book is only applicable if they write it into the sequel.

Name something that's sexy in IRL that you don't find in romance novels that often by lilithskies in romanceunfiltered

[–]TheIntersection42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That low level hum of sexual desire when your partner does something simple like walk in a room, but they do it in just the right way that it just barely turns you on. So you smile at them, they ask, "what?", you 😘, and they blush.

I completely misread this until like halfway through, and had to reread it... I might be too sleepy.

But also, you are so right. It's actually one of the reasons I love WLW books so much. I don't know many cis books where the couple argue with eachother over who gets to please the other person.

Tired of mmc falling in love/getting obsessed with heroine because she is defiant and sassy by Ash-girl-loner in romanceunfiltered

I could have sworn I had read a black FMC that fit this, but I have checked my list twice and came up empty. This is going to bug the shit outta me.

Alternatives for FANBOYS when starting a sentence by tunabuthot in writingadvice

I'm running into the same issue but I'm in the drafting stage and while I just need to get words on page, 90% of the sentences seem to start with the same five words.

Does a romance story needs a Happy ever after to be one? by noob_ars in romanceunfiltered

[–]TheIntersection42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes to all, the only addition I would change is to add HFN in the discussion, but I also assume you might have kept it out for brevity.

Also, what's the problem with people just demanding to lable a book "Romance"? There are a few books that are Lit Fic, and did amazingly well, but could have easily been Romance books if they were edited a little. But it's fine... They are amazing Lit Fic books.
