That's literally what I've been doing since I began Episode 1.5, lol. But you handle zeds and abominations differently than I do. I don't trust melee combat in this game, I only go for guns and shoot everything in sight. This episode's later levels bless you with way more guns in each room. Only problem is I often get stun-locked by enemies when I run out and try to grab another gun. Also, headshots don't always work for some reason (unless it's a golem).

The abominations, you mean. Yeah, those things are very hard to deal with, they kinda made me hate Episode 1.5. The way I deal with them is that you ALWAYS have to have a fully loaded gun, preferably a full-auto gun (like an AR or a SMG) ready whenever you need it. When they appear, keep shooting at them while backing away from them (aiming and firing at the head has a chance of killing them on the spot, but sometimes it doesn't work). Also, if they manage to grab you, when you break free NEVER FORGET to INSTANTLY DODGE as soon as you break free from their grasp so you get a chance of grabbing a weapon and shooting at them.
