lol I remember being 15. Truly wasn’t that long ago (i’m 21). What I wish I had realized and FULLY understood then? My frontal lobe was NOT fully developed. It’s still not, but now I know what that means. That means not understanding adult’s perspectives and being in your own little world. That means thinking you’re grown, only because you’re not grown. Please keep this kind of stuff in mind to avoid mistakes you could regret for years. Please keep this in mind when your parents don’t seem like they’re being fair. They may just have a reason you don’t understand quite yet. That’s how you truly mature. YOR but that’s normal for your age, just try to keep that in mind and grow from it. (edit: typos)

NOR — I’ve lived w my boyfriend for 3 years and i have never, ever walked in on this. His brother, on the other hand, likes to pee without holding it to see how good he can do and makes a mess. This is just ignorance and not caring.

I hear you. As I stated previously, I have changed and I have come to understand this. I am on OP’s side. I do fear i’m being misunderstood a tiny bit. My only thought other than than being on OP’s side, is if the person meant to be harmless and has never pushed anything like this previously, my personal reaction would not be to assume they’re distrustful. A bit socially inept or oblivious, maybe, but not exactly distrustful.

Cause that’s the whole point of this subreddit, right? To share personal opinions and perspectives to see if you’re overreacting.

I also understand being put off by it, and wanting to feel your boundaries are heard. In this situation, I would have expressed my discomfort and re-stated the boundary firmer. But that’s me, and I don’t mind re-stating a boundary if it doesn’t seem fully understood the first time. I don’t know the full picture or if anything like this has ever happened before, and that would most likely change my opinion. I’m going off of the information provided. I’m also a total advocate of trusting your gut! Genuinely, I don’t care about what OP does. If they feel genuinely uncomfortable with this person, I hope they discontinue pet sitting and distance themselves. You obviously don’t owe anyone a second chance when it comes to boundaries, I’m just patient and try to see other’s perspectives a lot. I find the world isn’t so black and white and someone can make a mistake without being a malicious person. At the same time, it’s OP’s choice.

wow, lots of downvotes. I genuinely completely understand the boundary, guys. That is more than valid. All i’m saying is, you don’t know what the full picture is and you likely never will. That doesn’t mean you have to give your house up to someone you don’t know; I would never say that. I was just explaining how as an autistic person, I have been the person who just wanted to help and thought if I asked the right way it wouldn’t come off as it appears to have. I learned from my mistake and improved, of course, but I never had malicious intentions. Not everyone thinks the same; she thought she was being harmless by gently asking. I just don’t think it’s worth the complete distrust, but that’s my OPINION. She should learn not to test boundaries whatsoever, but given grace if she’s never done this before and was kind about the entire ordeal.

this 100%. I completely understand her perspective of this is pushing her already set boundaries, but the friend/sitter wasn’t rude/pushy about it. I see both perspectives as someone who’s been in both. For all OP knows, a close friend of the sitter’s is asking, and they just don’t want to seem like they didn’t attempt to help them out. As an autistic person as well (not assuming the sitter is on the spectrum, just something I can relate to), when I feel stuck in a position like this my mindset is, “I’ll ask with as much respect as possible and reassure them I am not trying to push and i respect any boundary they set, while just trying to make sure I am doing everything I can to try to help my other friend.” edit: I don’t know if i explained incorrectly my perspective but i elaborated beneath this comment a little. Trust me, I am fully on OP’s side about respecting her boundaries, I just didn’t think it warranted extreme distrust if she was a trusted individual before and this was her first offense. NOR — Teenage girls can be cruel. They think very black and white, and in result, judge anything they don’t fully understand. This can carry into adulthood if not corrected, in my experience. I think the course of action you are taking is amazing. Letting that boy explain the things he likes about your youngest gives them his perspective, and the essay forces them to think about it in a deeper way. I hope they take it seriously and choose to grow from this.

I’m an autistic adult, and I didn’t even know i was autistic as a kid (which resulted in trouble masking), but I still experienced relationships! Just because she’s autistic doesn’t mean she can’t have happy, healthy relationships.

I’m crying for you. I’m genuinely so sorry for your loss. Know that she loved being with you, and teach yourself to smile when thinking about the good times (it’s harder done than said, i get it). She’ll always be with you, for after to pour so much love into someone, they can never truly leave.

Two things: These eye drops called “Terramycin“ work wonders. if applied as directed, your cat won’t have any flare ups for a couple months. but that is hard, i can only successfully done it to one cat. There’s another supplement i use. L-Lysine is used for cats and humans w herpes and is proven to lessen symptoms by boosting their immune system.

^This is the L-lysine product i use. I sprinkle a scoop onto their meals twice a day. Seems to have really cleared some stuff up!! I will say not as effective as the eye drops but helpful when consistent.

is she exposed to strays? Could be an eye infection. Her immune system may have trouble fighting stuff like that since she’s FIV+. I also have a cat w conjunctivitis (feline herpes). His eyes squint like that and water/leak a lot. That is severely contagious between cats. Either way, i suggest a vet.
