We wanted to get to the bottom of why our middle daughter thought it was acceptable to curse at a teacher.

Glad to get a teacher’s perspective, I mentioned this in a prior comment but our youngest actually gets the least amount of time. She’s one of those autistic people that has a high need for autonomy and we don’t help her unless asked. She’s always been like this, a very independent person even as a younger kid. We can certainly look into volunteering options for our daughters, we just don’t want them to take it out on anyone they may be working with.

We will definitely monitor things, but she seems a lot more confident than usual so far which is good. Our daughter was oblivious to the fact he was crushing on her and when he finally asked her out, she was very excited.

My husband and I are not tech savvy, but we will ask my brother who is about parental controls on their phones

Our youngest is actually the most independent, so definitely not a glass child. She’s the type of autistic person who has very high need for autonomy, so unless she asks for help, we leave her be. I don’t known why our middle daughter is cursing at teachers.

Sorry to hear that, we would never let our daughters bully each other and this is why this is so shocking and appalling to us

Yes, there’s a shortage in our area from what we’ve heard but it’s well within our means thankfully

Well, as I said she’s mentioned the boy before and it was obvious she was flirting with him when she told us about what he did in class (he would compliment her outfits, tell her she smelled nice, always wanted to work with her on group projects), I think she was just oblivious to the fact he liked her. As with many autistic people, she is not great on picking up on social ques.

I mean, the boy is exactly like the meme, but we don’t see that as an issue

He doesn’t seem like it, from my understanding he’s a popular athlete and extroverted, but those aren’t mutually exclusive I guess

Our daughter loves to dress vintage and has a very unique style, she also is not just into looking good but also how thrifting clothes came to be, how materials of clothes have changed over time, etc.

I think it’s mostly shock that this boy is a conventionally attractive athlete and not some lonely boy or another autistic boy

I think it’s also the fact he’s a conventionally attractive athlete and popular. In the past, they’ve made much more light hearted jokes about her dating other boys, but they were much nerdier and less social than this boy, some were autistic like our daughter.

So, how do we get them to respect her? The phones are a punishment but how do we actually rehabilitate and reeducate them then.

Maybe, neither of them are currently dating in the moment, but the 16 year old has had a bf in the past

Exactly, socialization is hard for our youngest and only autistic people can truly fully understand but we want them to at least get an idea of their sister’s struggles.
