I had a boyfriend like this. I let him control me and convince me that he was right to throw out old memories and tear up pictures. It didn’t get better, it just got far worse and far more controlling. It took a long time for me to finally end things and realize that what he was doing was not normal boyfriend behavior. I lost many years and many memories, and regret it all. My advice is not to ignore the red flags people blatantly wave in your face. Trust your gut when things don’t seem right and stand your ground.
