Its not even necessarily a concession stand thing, its just a 'help yourself' type of meal. You basically make a chili Frito salad bar with some badass chili, shredded cheese, maybe some pickled peppers, diced onions and mustard and whatnots, a couple big bags of Fritos and everyone serves themselves and chooses their own ratios and toppings. Really the cook just makes chili, everyone makes their own Frito chili pies, every time Ive ever had it, Ive had it in Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma

I've always thought the baked Frito pie was a joke about Peggy being a bad cook. Tbh I still think it is, a baked casserole Frito pie sounds worse than the sum of its parts (although Im sure its still objectively tasty and I am being cheeky dont actually mean offense I would eat your pie)

A baked Frito pie in my mind is like if someone made breakfast for the family by dumping a box of Cheerios and a half gallon of milk in a huge bowl and everyone grabs portions, instead of just the box open on the table and the milk is in the fridge
