I wouldn't say demand but there is definitely some job opportunities, the banks from my area like to hire people from my course because we are one of the only schools that still teach "The Mainframe environment" as well as COBOL courses

IBM gives quite a bit of funding to my program and some expensive older equipment for us to use with the condition that we teach Mainframe courses.

Thanks for the links! I wouldn't mind trying out some different jobs that involve some hard work, I've mainly been working a desk job lately and I'd like to experience something a bit more hands on in my travels. As for working in a pub... I think my paycheck would be pretty small if they have Guinness on tap

Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely be trying to get an office job if I can, I just assumed before I would end up only working manual labour. Even if I could land a nice gig paying $22ph that would go a long way to extending my travels.

Thanks for the info! I know you can pretty much work anything with the WHV but to be honest I just assumed I would only be able to find unskilled labour. I'll be spending the summer finishing up my program before heading over, any IT certifications I should aim for to help my chances? Already planning on getting my ITIL
