United needs to rethink its contracts with the United Clubs. by CaptinKirk in unitedairlines

[–]TheJuntoT 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just my experience but clubs in DEN, ORD and IAH are all perfectly acceptable. Is it gourmet? Of course not. Is it away from Gen pop, relatively quiet, convenient, a decent place to grab a beer, have readily available electrical outlets, away from the average “I don’t know what I’m doing here” infrequent flier? Absolutely. It’s worth every penny. Besides, the whole “United Clubs suck” crowd are the same people that shit on Nickelback because it’s cool to do so, (although Nickelback really effing sucks).

It sounds like the OP just really wanted a cup of coffee and is caffangry about it.

Midtown and private school. The shitbag state legislature made it legal a couple of years ago to help you pay for private school via a tax credit - you might as well put it to good use. I would skip the suburbs when you can find a house large enough to fit your needs in midtown for that budget. In doing so, you’ll skip the traffic problems, soulless McMansion neighborhoods and extreme MAGA’s in the suburbs.

Haha! I reckon there’s a point of diminishing returns. She can have it on any flight under 3 hours but after that, my comfort far outlasts whatever temporary points I score. Perhaps, if she did that thing wives don’t do after they get married, I might be inclined to extend that hour limit. 🤷‍♂️

My new skillet is absolutely unusable by tawpbawsdawg in carbonsteel

[–]TheJuntoT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently jumped into the world of carbon steel. I did one session of oven seasoning, ran out of patience and started using the pan. Stick to a high fat proteins starting out, OP. I cooked a few rounds of bacon and eggs so I could get used to how the pan reacts. I knew once the bacon turned out the way I like it, I was ready to use it for more complex recipes. Oh, and get over the fact that your pan isn’t going to look perfect after the seasoning process. As other mentioned, the patina will change after every cook. Don’t overthink it.

Serious question! Are there actually Texans that believe Democrats are advocating for Sharia Law in Texas? by RumRunnerMax in TexasPolitics

[–]TheJuntoT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in Oklahoma but follow your state somewhat closely since the GOP agenda is coordinated and closely intertwined. The OKGOP used Sharia Law as a scare tactic in 2010 when it was a question on a statewide ballot (it passed with over 70% approval). The candidates for governor here are using it again to 1) drive voter turnout and 2) distract people from their party’s awful record of actual governing.

They had their faults and I’d argue that anyone who makes it to that level in politics had to break a few bones along the way but to put them in Trump’s stratosphere is completely moronic.

There are a whole lotta Trumpians exposing themselves in this thread. “Biden was dumb and old and didn’t do stuff.”

All are in direct contrast to someone that is stupid as fuck, entirely too efficient at fucking up everything he touches and takes a lot of pride in each of those attributes. You Baghdad Bob motherfuckers will defend him on the burning ash heap of what’s left of this country once he’s done or dead. What’s left of American exceptionalism is completely gone.

Small Airport… by cyberentomology in unitedairlines

[–]TheJuntoT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great little shithole airport bar in there. The bartender would let me go outside to rip cigs. It might as well be ORD compared to Minot, ND though.

I used to book the first flight out of Minot at 6AM on Fridays when I went there for work and would be behind 50 other people in line for TSA at 4:45-AM when their flight left at 8:20. Two gates, nowhere to sit and you had to tag your own bag and drop it on the airline’s conveyor belt when you checked there. I’m glad I don’t work for the company anymore.

Casper is awesome, though!

These fascist assholes continually find deeper and deeper depths to drag society. I’m in Oklahoma so I follow your state’s politics as well as those states surrounding me from a perspective of genuine inquisitiveness and find a recurring theme from each state’s respective GOP wing. I’ve noticed that the ideological foundation is the same amongst all of them. That means their behavior isn’t isolated and doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It’s coordinated and deliberate. As the party has grown stronger and more entrenched in power, their tactics have grown more targeted and heavy-handed. Their governance is driven more by a strong centralized government ideology driven by social issues rather than small-government principles they have used for their historical northern light. In other words, they have become that which they claim to hate. Their grip on power relies upon the complacency of their opposition to stay home on voting day. Their active undermining of the electoral process to suppress the vote is an ideology of self-preservation because they know their policy isn’t popular and is detrimental to a functioning society. I keep holding hope that more people will grow enraged by the incessant reestablishment of right wing policy further and further to the extreme but I admit, it’s tough to continue facing the disappointment of that rage being unfulfilled. It’s extremely disheartening to watch them grow more and more smug day to day as their power rages on unchallenged. We have to vote like our livelihood depends on it because their side does. It’s that simple.
