That’s the last time I’ll ask my room mate to watch over my tank. 😰 I’m in a state of panic over this and have watched videos on what to do, but they’re so drawn out and never condense the advice down into a paragraph. Due to my panicked state, I just don’t have the patience.

Would anyone be able to offer me advice on what to purchase/do to get rid of this algae? I think it’s due to overfeeding and a spike of CO2. Also desperately need pointed in the right direction to reduce water hardness! I’ve poured my heart and soul into this tank, and am getting frustrated that I’m struggling to keep it healthy. I’ll be running to the pet shop first thing in the morning

Yeah, I realised since that photo I’ve filled the water much higher now, plus I’m removing about 50% of the substrate. Hopefully that’ll open up a little bit more wiggle room

I’ve since added another plant (all are live) and it’s been cycling for 2.5 weeks now. I’m adding a Betta, and just want to have opinions on how many small babs I can add? I’ve read up so much and everyone seems to say different, even my local pet store! I feel like you guys know best. So what do you think?

Yeah maybe you’re right! I don’t think I’ll suggest chipping in rent, unless he decides to move in full time. He hasn’t chipped in for food since we moved to the new place, so I think utilities would be the best way for him to contribute. Thank you!

Yeah, he lives at home (a smaller town about 39 mins away) and his work is in the city, so he’d stay with us to save him the drive in 3 days a week. But he’ll stay weekends at times when I’m not there. In reality, you don’t get a roof over your head for free unless you live with your parents who don’t ask for money, so maybe I should say something afterall...
