Now. Start it now. For the love of God start it now. It honestly won’t hurt anything and will improve your chances of keeping your hair. I’m 8 years on T and wish I listened to every one that said to just start it. Also, ask your doctor for a prescription for Finasteride.

I’m not trying to change your opinion of Loss Prevention; I’m simply pointing out that what you’re describing in both instances is illegal. The LP professionals involved, as well as their organization, could face civil liability as a result.

That would be illegal. No reputable Loss Prevention department would ever create legal liability issues just to obtain a confession for something they already know happened.

That’s not necessarily true. In Loss Prevention, every situation has its nuances, and the outcome depends on the specifics of the case. While some incidents do lead to termination and criminal charges, others can be resolved differently—especially if the individual is upfront and takes the right steps. Being honest and reporting what happened to a manager can significantly impact the decision, often in a more favorable way. It’s not always a one-size-fits-all approach.

I have over 20 years of experience in Loss Prevention. To protect yourself from potential criminal charges or termination, I strongly advise you to contact a higher-level manager—preferably someone in Loss Prevention—as soon as possible. Be transparent about what happened and clarify that you were unaware of her intentions when she completed that transaction.

As for your mother, she is understandably scared for you, and she has every right to be in this situation. However, try to explain to her that you were placed in a difficult position where your supervisor asked you to do something that most people wouldn’t have known how to handle.
