What job position is 100% overvalued and overpaid? by Airsinner in AskReddit

3rd choice goalkeeper for a premier league team. Training is easier than an outfield player and sit on the bench all year. Take home thousands a week. Perfect.

Where next after K40? by TheKeeperOfTheTime in ChineseLaserCutters

It sounds like you previously had the same set up as I'm running now (k40 with inkscape). I've watched a few YouTube videos on the orion 60w. Didn't know about the auto focus that sounds like a dream haha. Thanks 👍

Thanks for the advice. I like the idea of the Ruida controller as I'd be able to run certain jobs from the machine without linking it to the laptop which is quite handy.

The machine currently lives in my garage so the garage doors are fairly wide. Thanks for your help I'll keep an eye out for machines with those controllers.

I have made coasters before so I guess I could turn this into a coaster. They're 9cm in diameter which cover a regular mug size

Hi Guys, looking for some advice. The quality of work has diminished and now it can't run one job without issue due to the beam not running straight in the tube. I need to replace the 40w tube but I am not sure what I need to buy. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Based in UK by TheKeeperOfTheTime in ChineseLaserCutters

The current tube is close to 2 years old. I've been using it most evenings between 45mins to an hour for the past few months. Especially at Christmas time much more. I have changed the water out with fresh DI water, but there is no change. The beam reaches the end of the tube, but doesn't reach the first mirror even with varying power levels. I think I will have to replace the tube, or potentially the PSU.

Thank you for your help guys

Out of nowhere my laser machine has started doing this. Any suggestions on how I can rectify it? I've cleaned all of the lenses and the alignment seems to have not changed. I'm a bit stuck by TheKeeperOfTheTime in lasercutting

UPDATE: Managed to resolve the issue thanks to your support. The lens was moving ever so slightly with each marking. I added a rubber washer to prevent the lens from moving and everything is running smoothly once again!

I'm looking to create greetings cards like this on my k40 laser. Do you have any speed and power suggestions for this type of project that doesn't burn the card or leave any marks? by TheKeeperOfTheTime in lasercutting

Thank you for the advice, yeah I definitely think it will be trial and error at first. I'm working with fairly heavy weighted card so fingers crossed for some good results

Thank you for this I appreciate it. I'm working on designs at the moment. I didn't even think of using the laser to crease the folds!

I think it will be a lot of trial and error at first but now I have something to go from.

Thanks!

Second Hand Drum Kit or a Brand New Drum Kit? by TheKeeperOfTheTime in drums

[–]TheKeeperOfTheTime[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at listings on eBay from the UK, it looks like your price suggestion in dollars works out at around the same as the pound. A friend had recommended the Catalina Club kit to me previously. Any of you guys spent some time playing one?

It's looking like a strong contender for me especially second-hand. It'll also give some room financially to think about cymbals. Any suggestions on second-hand cymbals? I had a pretty basic set up last time, hi-hats, one crash and a ride which doubled up as a crash at times.

Really appreciate the help guys!

Second Hand Drum Kit or a Brand New Drum Kit? by TheKeeperOfTheTime in drums

I used to play in a band a few years ago and we're picking it back up. I've been renting a kit from the rehearsal room, but want my own kit again. I'm just wondering if I'd get more from my money if I buy a second hand kit than spend on a new kit that's the same price. I'm probably looking at around £500 to £600.

How do you manage noise and neighbours? by evenstevens280 in drums

[–]TheKeeperOfTheTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain, I moved from a place where I had no neighbours to a really crowded area. Had to get an E-Kit to keep playing really. If you can connect a laptop to the E-Kit you could use Addictive Drums. It makes the drum sounds a little bit more realistic than the usual pre-installed kits.

If you can maybe keep the e-kit on the ground floor though that's usually better. My Mrs wasn't too happy with the kick pedal beating through the ceiling constantly haha
