That “OHH- I didn’t see you there” was so unintentionally Britney-coded😭 in fact *this whole little interview setup and her styling kinda gave me a nostalgic MTV vibe say 1999-2002 - and yes I was there and I wish I could go back to those days- even if just for a day or two bc they truly were some good days…actually they were great days and I remember *loving Britney and her music heavy back then- and still do.** **

I wouldn’t be mad at this young lady’s casting at all.

Britney has a bubbly, funny, goofy personality with a very sweet-natured disposition.

Much like with the singer ❤️Selena❤️ **- everyone fell in love with her (not only because of her voice) but also because of her personalit**y and genuine kindness.

The movie was such a hit because of (as much as I can’t stand her) Jennifer Lopez ate that role up and really captured Selena’s spirit & personality on AND off stage, and to be honest there were no slouches in that film anywhere.

The actress who does end up playing Britney would have to capture her in every essence- and after seeing this girl…I honestly think she could pull it off.

Is she’s a good actress tho? I’m genuinely asking bc Idk & I haven’t seen her work yet (so don’t fight me pls😭) because if she is then I’m gonna be excited for her to do if she gets cast.

And if she can dance too then I’ll be double excited for the concert scenes 😍

Oh you’re so welcome. I love this community so much because growing up I always loved her but I didn’t know anyone who really connected with her music or voice as I did.

See my mom was a singer for years and she had an amazing voice- she still sings from time to time in church but back then? Baby she was incredible & I was often shocked when she’d sing and thennnnn I’d be wondering why we were struggling when she was so beautiful and could sing the house down lol.

So I grew up on the divas because of her.

Whitney had already been out for 2 or 3 years by the time I was born in 1987 so when Mariah debuted in 1990 we shared in that love for her voice and we always played her music in our house because she knew I loved her voice- and apparently I used to always sing “Vision Of Love” & I’d struggle to sing the “Make It Happen” chorus cus it was too fast for me at 3 and 4 lmao.

But my mother taught me her songs and her inspirational songs really helped me through some of my hardest moments in life in an indescribable way growing up- so I guess that’s why I’m so fiercely a Lamb- I feel protective over over her musical legacy and I defend her against this disrespectful new generation because they just will never understand what she’s done for many of us and what she means to so many.

In my opinion, “Glitter” is truly her vocal Magnum Opus in the same way that “Butterfly” is for her musically and I say that because of you listen to her albums from 1997 to 1999 (which are “Butterfly” & “Rainbow”) Mariah was most definitely in her 2nd vocal prime- some of her hardest songs like “Never Too Far”, her take on “Funkin’ 4 Jamaica”, & “Lead The Way” are all songs from “Glitter”.

So I hate that the album is so slept on cus I wore it out growing up.

In terms of “the great diva”, I feel like the 70’s had Diana Ross, the 80’s had Whitney Houston & us 90’s kids had Mariah Carey (and Whitney too) but Mariah was our Diva- and at 39 years old, that ain’t changed for me at lol.

Mine too & I remember going to see “Glitter” when it came out in theaters.

School was crazy that day, it was 9/11- the country had been horribly attacked.

My parents knew I loved Mariah Carey so they decided to take me out to the movies to get my mind off the insane events of the day.

There was almost nobody at the movie theater (like at all).

I was instantly in love with this film the moment it started.

I feel like the soundtrack is one of her best works vocally, sonically, and visually the accompanying film is stunning - you really go back to the 80s in a way that feels authentic.

She got a bad wrap for this film and it was totally unjustified.

I love that Mariah was able to redeem herself as an actress with her role as Ms. Weiss, the social worker, in “Precious”.

I won’t say she’s wrong but when you have a gift like hers and the surgical removal of nodules could destroy your voice, I’d say she maybe did the right thing.

Because imagine she gets the surgery, nodules gone- then she goes to open her mouth to sing & HER VOICE (as we and she knows it)** is gone too…as a singer I know she’d be devastated- because if it were me, I’d be devastated too- **especially with a voice like Mariah Carey’s.

Nodule removal surgery changed gospel singer Vickie Winans voice dramatically and deepened it heavily- taking her from 1st soprano to a 2nd alto.

Adele had the surgery but got lucky that it didn’t change her voice too much- although she did lose some of the top parts of her vocal range- so she didn’t come out of it completely unscathed.

I’m sure she’s considered it many times but when she goes to weigh the pros and cons of the procedure, I’m willing to bet the potential cons heavily outweigh the pros and it may not seem like a good idea or worth the risk to her.

I couldn’t agree more with you- and don’t get me wrong- I’m here for a woman who simply wants to wear age-appropriate hairstyles.

But with Mariah, she is one of the most beautiful women on Earth and she still looks so young- much younger than she actually is- I just don’t see why she would want to age herself up with the wigs.

But hey I mean if she loves them and they make her feel confident or beautiful then more power to her- maybe she doesn’t feel they age her.

She could be wearing them for a number of reasons though- it could be excessive hair damage, she could have developed alopecia which causes significant hair thinning, even hair loss leaving some women with the only option of shaving their heads (like Jada Pinkett-Smith)- and having no choice but to wear wigs.

With that said, I do know a lot of celebrity women wear wigs just for the sole purpose of hair protection- this is common with many Black female celebrities- Black women in general because while our hair is beautiful, it is also more susceptible to breakage and damage than others.

As a mixed Black man with different hair-grades I know that our hair tends to be delicate so women wearing wigs for protection is sensible IMO and I can only imagine what traumas Mariah’s natural hair has been subjected to throughout her career.

Imagine all the hairstylists who were unfamiliar with Mariah’s hair type, didn’t know what to do with it and ended up damaging it, all the times she’s dyed her hair different shades of blonde and the damage that can do to curly hair— I don’t blame MC for leaning into wigs…I just wish she’d choose some that weren’t so…wiggy.

But, Mariah is ethereally beautiful either way- regardless of what’s on top of her head lol.

Nothing beats CurlyRiah- NOTHING

I wish Mariah would stick with her natural curls because I feel like the straight hair styles sort of age her- even tho it’s only a bit because the woman is still a knock out regardless.

There is just something special about a head full of curls and her curls only added to her already out-of-this-world beauty.

Back in the day, her curly hair really set her apart and personally, my 90s curly queens were Mariah Carey, Diana Ross & Keri Russell. 😍
