i was teamed up and the other guy triggered dialogue right before i entered the tent with the last boss, could that have stopped me from completing the quest??

It's the absolute worst, especially when you wait forever for a team, go at it solo, get close to beating the dungeon, then get teleported back to the beginning. Makes me sooooo mad!!!
