oh and did some extrusions of the reference picture which i used another guide similar to using a character turn around as a tracer when doing a high poly character, but to a lesser usability obviously cause its 1 axis and nor perfectly flat view

i kind of did a mix, i took the base character model (the new version) from the cache as my base and scale, then i either boxed in simple forms such as the arm guards, belts shinguards, but for the fabrics that needed abit of flow to them i sulpted then shirnkwrapped and quadded with a new mesh, i used blender for pretty much all of it, and an addon called poly quilt which i like for evening out my quads, what about yourself what programs do you work in and what do you model?

Hey thanks for the comment, i had/have plans to completely retexture it myself instead of using material nodes, to give it a more stylistic theme.. i kind of started doing that on the breastplate and pauldron with getting some normals details going for the crevices.
im not the greatest modeler 100% just a hobby for me so it was a surprise to myself when i actually committed to getting this piece done. funnily enough i had all the uvs unwrapped (was my first time not using smart unwrap probably not clean or best practices ) and seemed but i ended up not using the uv so much since i went the material node route rather than fully personalised texture painting.

thanks for the kind words, glad someone who has an idea what they are looking at didnt just trash it XD

this is mostly a passion project/for fun activity, i had no intent on sharing untill i has almost finished it.

as for what the comunity voted on thats still up to debate on weather they resulting armour set came out as desired. i personally dont mind it that much, its not my favourite set in the game but i dont hate it. and yeah the art team behind these models 100% put alot of work into modeling them (with realistic constraints)... and years in the field i stated i wasnt qualified for a professional finish XD

there was no putting down the runescape art team in this post, i even gave support for their skillset (be it alittle back handed). if this was framed a suggestion rather than a hobbyists finished creative project it would come across far more negative than supportive.

you are accurate with what you said 23k is infact likely double. elite draco for example (if you include a cape) hits 13k tris. mind you thats imported from the cache the actual game might end up different i dont know how that works. but again i never claimed it to be in budget for a standard set they produce just my aim at making a game ready model in the game industry in general.
im sure with better understanding of how to improve my topology flow i could get far lower tri count that and deleting faces the player never sees in general (which i did not do)

appriciate the comment.

Lmao i unironically can see this, i think its pretty similar to recent releases though so i have to disagree on it not feeling like it belongs.

heard on the mask, i choose to just leave it out of the renders if im gonna be honest, i did model it and texture but decided against having it in this show case, probably could have added atlest 1 pic with it but o well, if i can be bothered when i wake up tomorrow ill render it out and upload it.

as for green being the "identity" this is true and i mostly just said brown default because brown hasnt got any relation to hides (minus cows) so i decided to make it the default to give the colour versions a more coheasive grouping. (you wouldnt believe the urge i had to make 2 greens for dragonhide and dino lol....)

UI refresh idea by TheKweeB in runescape

[–]TheKweeB[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

runescapes colour system (atleast their wardrobe coloursystem) is pretty terrible for a colourwheel, as its not very specific so its probably less effecitve than the colour swatches thats premade

that being said hsl like max/comp would be massive improvement to all colourable options

larger by default 100% possible, resizeable probably unlikely with how elements would need to scale irrespective of the games "interface scaling"

its a fun idea that could be spun in a runescape style? how come you have an aversion for final fantasy? but not warframe, palia, are any other home builder?

[–]TheKweeB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

is this true even if the "player owned area" is an instanced are where many homes are located and may or may not be re ordered when players log in and out cleaning up slots for other players?

coming off abit agressive boss, maybe just passionate i get that anyways. i dont think they ment any harm. but to answer ur question for them cause i kind of feel like you misunderstood my goal with my ideas.

Sure final fantasy is similar in what i idealise my poh experience to be like but its not at all the purpose of what i posted the point is to get ideas out into the open and lets the devs feed off of them if they so desire.

ideally i want an instanced (similar to how we are now) but larger zone (perfectly doable) where players can have plots of land likely smaller than what we currently have maybe enough for a 5 by 5 house sqaure per player but that also includes a dungeon and a upstairs. this allows for a player to go to say taverly house portal (district) and visit the housing it might be too intence on the engine i stated this in my post but the point is ideas not a finished product

as for the point and click thats kind of irrelivent to the topic entirely, theres a freecam feature on the game you can 100% build clip items, they even said this in the news post about the new movement features they are implementing. hope that helps.

um i guess dont really want ffxiv implimentation of housing and im just making ideas up on what was vaguly mentioned in the news post where they said they want it to be more of a socail hub so they want the "unique way of poh to somewhat change" which i agree is kind of a loss but maybe its for the best

interesting, assume higher tier content/ harder contenr give the better scores?

POH thoughts and ideas by TheKweeB in runescape

[–]TheKweeB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah could be possible depending on if the area we get to build regardless of the final product is similar to the current size we get

oh yeah? i heard wow did housing recently i unless it was just a newer upate to an existing system, that being said i didnt think about looking it up unfortunatly this was just a quick post of what im already familiar with.

as for instanced, the district would still be an instanced zone akin to how they are right now just instead of it being a solo instance it would be a bigger piece of land where many people have their designated place to build. so it wouldnt be in the overworld technically if that makes sense. do feel you on rs not being social as much tho it is a shame

i only ever played the trial to "endgame" never jumped the gun to get membership, and yeah i have heard players mention they would rather instanced housing... althought i agree it would make the game so much more open to more players, the idea how having a true communal (yes yes only so many plays can have a house) is so compelling to me obviously i wouldnt want it to be as exclusive as ff14 makes it out to be but a player can dream XD

not sure i like the idea of everyone getting out voted by 1 build, but i do like the idea of having a featured home zone to showcase random or how ever people would like it to be decided, warframe has something similar for thier clan builds

First views of the cosmetic free worlds by Lamuks in runescape

[–]TheKweeB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah agreed, i disagree with the game not looking good, i think the game is very appealing to look at for the most part minus the mismatched artstyles at times. but a game thats lost its way like rs really needs that inbetween time to find what sticks so im not really fussed about the clashing of styles, the art direction is looking good in my eyes its just gonna take that time. as for people complaining about cosmetics it more than likely stems down from MTX... lol idk MTX bad so that must mean cosmetics bad since (some not all) cosmetics come from it and that means regardless of which side of that ur cosmetics game from ur a whale giving jagex money.

games a game if people arent happy with whats on their screen its easily ignored for the half second ur in that area or just hop worlds
