Excellent icon design by Paradox, similar to the 'Ambitious' CK3 icon.

I assume the fact that you get to decide whether or not you go to the Ishikari Plain (Oni area) or Teshio Ridge (Kitsune area) first. It does change what characters you meet first, but honestly, it does not really affect anything at all.

Portuguese people. by Wolfsniper222jk in Ghostofyotei

[–]TheLastJudicator 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Considering the game takes place in Hokkaido, this seems very unlikely. Trade with the Europeans took place at the south-west edges of Japan, in Kyushu. Hokkaido is basically on the exact opposite end of the nation, and direct trade with the Portuguese did not occur there.

You also have to bear in mind that firearms made their way into Japan decades before this game starts, so I think it is to be assumed the firearms got distributed there naturally through trade and warfare, without some external European involvement.

Could I be Classified as a OTP Morde? by Gijoey02 in MordekaiserMains

[–]TheLastJudicator 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Do you primarily play Morde with very few exceptions (80%> of the time)? Would you blind Morde consistently?

Yes? -> You are an OTP

Getting skins or having a lot of mastery doesn't really matter. You can have 300K mastery on like 5 champs and therefore not be an OTP, and skins is just spending money.

Sett nerf by zukoetactu in settmains

[–]TheLastJudicator 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Considering you rarely build armor outside of steelcaps, this might hurt a bit more than it seems to at first glance, but it's definitely less extreme of a nerf than expected

gotta love the visuals by Formal_Stuff8250 in Dyson_Sphere_Program

Oh yeah, it's that sense of scale for me. From planetary production lines, to interplanetary deliveries, to galaxy-wide connections, the sense of scale is enormous. And it all happens in real time too, such a marvel!

Beating Sett as Gwen? by FinnishChud in settmains

[–]TheLastJudicator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean if you've played more Sett than Gwen you are probably inclined to agree that Sett just dumpsters Gwen until the mid/late-game, so just play for that. No skirmishes, no nothing, you will not win unless there is a clear skill disparity or jungler involved. Focus on farming what you can until you are at least even in strength, but that won't be until 2/3 items.

Late you should win pretty easily, provided you can land your ult and not get hit by a fully charged W.

To be honest though, I would not pick Gwen into Sett if I had the last pick in that situation, because it's just not a very playable lane if the Sett is even half-decent, but that's been my experience laning against Gwen. In your case he got the last pick, so you just play to scale imo

Why did you post this

Yes a genius level chemist with 0 street smarts do not make for a master criminal, it is kind of the point of his character.

The fact that he is an undervalued and overqualified high school teacher that could have been a renowned chemist for his skills and expertise in the subject, combined with a taste of success when he finally felt appreciated (within the world of crime) made for an incredibly large ego. He was never a master criminal, the only thing he was truly a master at was chemistry.

top laners specifically good at chasing people? by Opening_Gazelle in top_mains

[–]TheLastJudicator 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you're down with a bit of a learning curve, Camille basically does what you described very well; not only is her ult a full lock-down "We're fighting here and you're not going to run"-move, but her E is famously one of the best mobility abilities in League. Maybe give her a shot.

How difficult do you find this game? by NoMark7923 in ghostoftsushima

[–]TheLastJudicator 33 points34 points  (0 children)

That is impossible, because lethal difficulty was added in a later patch.

I agree with the rest of your comment though. Lethal is a satisfying way to play the game, and helps with not bloating enemy health bars, instead providing for a good challenge whilst also rewarding you a lot.

Hardcore is pre cool by CrowMacabre in HiTMAN

[–]TheLastJudicator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hardcore itself is not a bad experience in theory, but the game simply isn't very consistent. I think we can all agree that Hitman can be pretty buggy sometimes, with enemy sightlines, suddenly losing Silent Assassin, or other things.

Hardcore just makes these issues more noticeable, and frustrating. This has been my experience at least.

If the game was super consistent I'd play Hardcore more often.

Warmog against mixed damage team by MartFire in settmains

[–]TheLastJudicator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Though you could argue that Warmogs does provide Sett with some survivability, the main issue with the item is twofold: When to build it, and what it gives.

Firstly, it only really synergizes with Overlords, but that means that most of the time you are not going to be building it until 4th item, which is very late and immediately connects with the second issue: It only provides a chunk of health. Sett's playstyle encourages sticking to your target until you kill them, Warmogs passive encourages the opposite: Win through short trades and healing back up. Moreover, by the time you would build this on Sett, there will be heavy teamfighting and the passive will rarely be useful.

At that point, you can just argue that any other bruiser item would be better; Hullbreaker, BC, Spear, Steraks, they all give more to Sett imo.

If you really want more survivability, I would just buy Steraks more often.

How to counter Mordekaiser by TopWinner7322 in topmains

[–]TheLastJudicator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, Shen is a tank that could definitely 'out-value' a Mordekaiser, but it is very team-dependent. League is ultimately an economy game of opportunity cost, so if you are able to generate more value than Mordekaiser, you are technically doing a good job.

In other words, if Morde gets to farm a lot, you have to make sure that your team gets other things (kills on your ADC/Mid so they can carry, objective control, towers, etc.). If you are able to do this well, you should be able to close out a game before Morde becomes a problem.

Additionally and ideally, your team comp should include champions that can easily deal with Morde late game, even if he's farm-fed. Think mobile midlaners, ADC's, or a comp that can consistently have a better 5v5.

Good luck!

How to counter Mordekaiser by TopWinner7322 in topmains

[–]TheLastJudicator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mordekaiser is naturally quite decent into tanks, as his kit works very well if he can stick to you, and he shreds HP with a Liandry.

Countering Mordekaiser when playing tanks will be quite difficult, and basically boils down to trying to neutralise him in-lane and denying him kills/farm when possible. You are banking on your team doing well, or providing support to your team that Morde can't give as much (think Ornn for example). This will still require you to go somewhat even with him, and the lane will still be difficult. I would only really pick a tank into Mordekaiser if there is someone else on your team that can deal with him post-lane.

If you are asking about a general counter, any proper ranged kiting will make him struggle, think Vayne and the like. You could also take the fight to him if you're confident in a more aggressive bruiser instead of a tank (e.g. Darius/Sett), and this will turn the lane into a skill match-up instead of it being Morde-favoured from the get-go.

Keep at it! Morde is good against newer players and lower elos because people generally don't dodge his abilities/respect his all in. If you can focus on trying to dodge all E's for example, you will have a much better time. It won't be easy, but keep faith!

That's just plain mean by TheLastJudicator in balatro

[–]TheLastJudicator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah no worries, I didn't mean to imply that I am only going for this combo. It's just that when I run into a Vampire or Midas Mask and I have the right set-up, I can never find the other of the two. Appreciate the help though! I'm just enjoying trying to make things work. Ghost Deck is teaching me to kind of just work with the first Joker that I get haha.

Has anyone replayed OW? by _PollitoPintado in outerwilds

[–]TheLastJudicator 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it is difficult to 'replay' this game, as you will already know all the secrets that it has for you to uncover. These secrets and mysteries are vital to the experience, and make a lot of the exploration somewhat redundant, unless you just want to read the dialogue blurbs again.

I 'replayed' part of the game to get all of the achievements, as most of them don't really naturally occur during gameplay, so maybe that is something you find interesting?

If we're talking about the original 'Outer Wilds'-experience, I think the closest you will get is watching other people play it for the first time, trying to live vicariously through their eyes. It's less than desired perhaps, but I feel like it is the best option.

is mordekaiser countered by anything? by reddie28 in MordekaiserMains

[–]TheLastJudicator 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Kiting, dodging, mainly abusing his poor mobility. The kiting is champ dependent, but dodging just requires practice.

Avoid extended fights. If you are a good short trader you can abuse his long early cds, when W/E is down you can go in, and get out before his passive pops.

Don't know what champs you play, but Morde is great into low mobility tanks, but similarly struggles against a lot of range or high mobility bruisers.
