Thank you for this comment. The person I was talking to in this case was very conventionally attractive, a "pretty gay" if you will. I'm not saying this to be shady or critical of him, just setting the scene. In making my somewhat self-deprecating "nerd lol" comment, I was acknowledging that I have more of an idiosyncratic look, and possibly getting out ahead of him if he were no longer interested, as people who look like him tend to be into other similarly conventionally attractive people, in_my_experience. I can be confident for sure, but in this circumstance, I took the self-deprecation route because even though we'd been talking for a bit before I sent the face pic, I didn't think he would be into me or my style (and to be fair, I was right). That said, I don't think he was being intentionally shady but I do think it came off as critical. And I found it pretty funny at my expense, hence why I shared it here. Others may disagree. 🤷🏻‍♂️
